Are Credit Cards accepted everywhere at Disneyland?

DH and I never carry cash with us and it wasn't ever a problem in WDW, but I figured I should make sure the same thing is true at DL. All carts and everything accept credit cards, right?

No. Only one cart (coffee and treats to the left of the castle) in the whole place, as far as I've been told, takes cards. Bring cash or buy some disney dollars for the carts!

Actually, I know that there's more than one cart, b/c I paid for water and pineapple spear with a card at the cart on main street near the lockers. So that's at least two, so let's put it at just "be prepared with cash and/or disney dollars b/c they don't all take cards."

I'm still trying to find a place to buy a mickey bar with a card!

I agree, not all of the carts accept credit cards. I had to borrow some disney dollars from my daughter to get a water at one point but I don't remember which cart I was purchasing from.

most carts do not take cards. This includes the night stuff. There is a fruit cart on main street that takes cards, and there is a cart by cafe orleans that sells some snacks and headbands and small things.

I must hit different carts because I only know one Popcorn one that doesn't take them and found more and more carts taking CC's. I am also one of those people who does not carry cash.

I tried to get coffee in a souvie mug from a cart near the DCA exit and was SO embarrassed to learn they couldn't take any kind of plastic. The poor CM had already poured my coffee before we realized I couldn't pay for it!

Wow, that's really surprising! I'm another that never carries cash anymore. Good thing I read this post!

Wow, that's so weird that they don't all take cards! I hate carrying cash around, hate hate hate it! I know we've never had an issue at WDW, so you'd think DL would get on the ball, too. Have they seen the Visa commercials (maybe Visa debit?) where everything runs smoothly until someone uses cash? ;) Big bummer, then, that we have to bring cash. :(

Since they are mobile, many just can't hook up to the machine network. Not yet at least. I figure since I hear WDW's mobile carts can hook up, it will happen eventually at DLR.

Oh I hate those debit commercials! It usually takes longer to pay with cards, b/c there's almost always some sort of problem. And I have yet to see one of those machines where you just put your card against it...

Haha, that's so funny! Maybe it's a regional thing? When we're at Target, it takes SO much longer when there's someone in front of us who's paying by cash rather than card. And we often use the card-tap things. I guess it's not that way everywhere?

I know this is not a very popular view, but what is wrong with carrying a few $$$ in cash in your pocket for those places that don't take cards???:confused3

Hello! The first time we used a credit card at one of the shops, we added a couple of $50 gift cards. From then on, we just used these at snack carts, coutner service restaurants etc. Served the same purpose as a credit card and was very convenient - and you have records of where all the money goes, too!

the only place you cant use a credit card are Outdoor Vending carts at Disneyland ONLY. Why? because those carts are mobile. They cant have something wired into the carts. Not to mention, all calculations are done in the mind, not on a register. In other words, if you see a register, then you can use a credit card... :)

BUT an exception to the ODV carts, they do not do discounts for passholder.

Thanks for the info, all. To ditto the other poster, we don't usually carry cash because we could lose it or it could be stolen (and not get it back, like on a card), and we have a record of all purchases. They're also more accurate, as it usually means that computers are doing the math rather than a cashier who could count change incorrectly or something. If we have to carry some cash around DL, then we have to do so... it's not a huge deal, but I was asking beforehand because we wouldn't normally have cash with us.

Are the gift cards accepted at outdoor vending carts?

If the cart accepts cards, they accept gift cards.

That's how I pay at DLR, by the way. Each day I snag another GC (though now I have so dang many I will just re-load, and by the next time we go I'll have a very solid idea of what we spend so I'll probably just re-load ONE time instead of every day) and that's what I pay with, aside from little bits of cash or disney dollars here and there.
