I am thinking of taking a trip next summer with my sister, her two boys, me and my daughter. That would be 5. But my husband might come too. He wasn't too keen when I said we would leave him at home. :rotfl2: He has some other trips and it would have been cheaper this way. The five us coudl ride in one car and share a room ect... I am basically going to help my sister. She is a single mom, and her oldest is autstic. It is difficult for her to go by herself.

The new Art of Animation suites and the All Star Music suites will hold 6 people. If you'd like to pay more that are also other options for 6 as well. If you'd like to stick with a Value Resort there is also the option of getting 2 Value rooms and ask that they be adjoining.

The cabins might be a little less stimulating for the autistic child than AoA or ASM - but all sleep 6....the 2 bedroom DVC villas also sleep 6 (well, actually 8/9) - they are going to be more spacious but also more money...you can usually rent points or a room through Davids rental service (dvcrequest) to make it more affordable and you can almost always get SSR even if its pretty late in the process!

The cabins also hold six

But the cabins only have one bathroom...that has always been the dealbreaker for us. Plus, I do not like the bed configuration of the cabin for 6 people. In my opinion, it really doesn't make sense to me for a family that wants some private space.

what are the aoa rooms like one bathroom as well? Is it made up into bedrooms? My nephew has been there before for short day or two trips. I think he would be okay with the stimulation. You really never know. This trip is going to be more so my other nephew can hang out with me and my dd. My sister can not have to worry about her autistic son monopolizing or taking off ect.. I will be able to keep him safe, and let him do things he wants to do to. My parents have went with her. But they are now in there 70's not easy for them to keep up with a 9 year old. Definately sounds like an option. If dh goes or doesn't it wont' matter.

AoA suites have 2 bathrooms. One is off the bedroom and one is off the main room.

Is her son able to sleep in a room with other people? Is her son able to share a bed with somebody else? These are things that parents of autistic kids sometimes have to consider when looking at hotels. My 14yo with high functioning autism can sleep in the same room as others but the lights have to be turned off and everybody quiet so if not everybody is going to bed at the same time then we have a problem (we accepted a long time ago that on vacation we all go to bed at the same time). This would be true in both the AoA or All Star suites. She also can't share a bed with anybody and in the AoA suites there are a total of 3 beds meaning everybody has to share a bed if you've got 6 peoples. The Family Suites in the All Star resort have 4 beds so that would work better if we had 6.

There are pictures of AOA on the official disney world resorts website under Accomodations - Value Resorts. AOA family suites sleeps six. There is a master bedroom that sleeps two and a master bath. There is a living area with a sleeper sofa that sleeps two and there is a dining table that folds down (murphy style) into a bed that sleeps two. There is 2nd full bathroom off the dining living area. There are interior corridors and no balcony or door that opens to the exterior. The resort as a whole looks like a lot of fun. There is a thread here on the resort board that also has pictures and links to video. AOA also offers standard rooms in the Little Mermaid section. You could rent two standard rooms if you can get them connecting. This would give you four beds that would sleep 8. With a family of 6, one person in each family would have a bed to themselves. You would still have two bathrooms but no kitchette and rooms would open to the exterior with no interior corridors. There will be three separately themed pools at AOA and a large food court, gift shop, and arcade. There is one bus stop outside of Animation Hall.

You could also stay at any of the other value resorts in two rooms.

DVC Villas also have two bedroom suites. These are quite pricey but you can rent points at dvcrequest.com for considerably less money. But there are restrictions - mousekeeping only once every four days, towel and trash service once every four days unless you pay a daily fee, no refund, and at least half payment if not full payment for room upfront, and most likely you would need to book 7 to 11 months before travel dates for availability. There are pictures of DVC rooms here on the disboards under accomodations or on allears.net under accomodations.

Keep in mind with renting points you will not be purchasing a package and will purchase dining and tickets separately.

You can also get two adjoining rooms in any of the moderate resorts the same as you can in a value resort. If free dining were to come available for your dates, value resorts offer quickservice dining plan and moderate resorts offer table service regular dining plan. You can always upgrade a quickservice dining plan to a tableservice dining plan but there will be an additional charge if you are staying value.

A family suite would be fine for 5 in your situation. If 6, then your daughter would have to sleep away from you and hubby in another room. For this situation, I think I would prefer two value rooms connected by a door.
