Are annual pass discounted resort room rates a thing of the past?

I know there are deals to be had because I have a moderate for $74 a night in May. I keep waiting for AP rates and nothing. Maybe, the new credit card has taken the place for resort rate deals. Floridians are getting wonderful deals for resorts and park tics, right now.

When AP rates ended early April I was sure there would be new rates out.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I wasn't sure when the next Mickey Monitor was due because that appears to be our last hope. Does anyone know when the next one should be coming?

I think the next Mickey Monitor comes out in May. $74 is a excellent rate for a moderate and you won't do better than that. That is just dollars short of 50% off.

It depends on who they want to give the deals too. They are giving them to FL Residents and people selected to receive postcards. I know the people displaced at POFQ deserve a discount on moving to other resorts but the deals they've been getting for deluxes are really incredible. When I was displaced from CBR last year, I was offered Poly or AK, I really wanted BWI but they would not give it. I ended up going with an AP rate of $169 at BWI (it was only 1 night). Now people are getting BWI for $104! Same for YC/BC! But no discounts for AP Holders...

I do not think they are a thing of the past. We got a great AP rate on AKL Concierge this past Feb. $277 a night inc tax when rack rate is $425 a night NOT inc tax.

The time frame around Easter has always been peak season for Disney and in years past 90's discounts of any kind were hard to come by during peak season.

Disney like other hotel chains project how many rooms they think they can fill at rack rate or as close to rack rate as possible before they start offering discounts and then they are going to try and fill as many rooms as possible at a gen public rate before they do a deep AP discount. We are seeing things turn a little back to the way they were in the 90's value seasons offer great discounts but peak and regular will be harder to come by.

We have the YC booked for our Aug into Sept trip with a Comeback Rate but I am hoping or an old fashioned AP rate of $189 plus tax for a water view room instead of the $207 plux tax rate I have right now. If it come great if not I am still getting 40% not bad in my opinion.

Exactly....it's got me pretty puzzled too. I was also booked at the CBR during the rehab and there wasn't anything close to what they're giving now. I did not hear of one single upgrade to anything other than AKL, WL and a very few to the Poly. They also had AP rates that could beat or come close to most deals they gave for the transfer. Again, like you, we went with an AP rate rather than the "upgrade??" offer.

During the CBR rehab there were hundreds that got upgraded to the Poly. When we were there the hotel was fully booked in October and the CM said it was due to the CBR rehab.

I have no doubt that it was booked, but when looking at the numbers affected by the CBR closing, hundreds of guests isn't a large amount. At any rate, by what was reported on these boards and others I read at the time, the vast majority of those transferred were transferred to WL or AKL. I'm sure all the resorts that were available as upgrades felt the effects. Wherever they moved to (and it wasn't to the YC/BC/BWI or CR) they didn't get the deals they're getting now.

I was one of those who were told no upgrade whatsoever, move to a moderate or nothing. I just chose not to fight it. It worked out fine, my AP rate as as good as the upgrade offers, but still, there were many just like me who got no upgrade offer at all.

My point isn't to complain about what POFQ guests are getting. As I've said before, I'm just questioning why the historically low upgrade rates and then no AP discounts.

We got an AKL savannah view for $99 per night after being bumped from the CBR closing. There were no FL resident rates or AP rates close to that during the time we travelled. It all depends on what is available for when the people are traveling.

With postcards, email offers and excellent code rates available, Disney may well not have a need to offer AP rates during summer peak season - then again they may and if so it will be announced in the MM. I can't imagine that AP rates would be that much better than whats available now though. It was only recently that AP rates were the same as FL rates - usually they were a bit higher, but less than the codes.

I doubt very seriously that AP rates are over and done with - I think we've all gotten a little spoiled with the slower economy and tourism - I remember many times when there were no AP rates during peak seasons.

Either way, the MM should be published soon - I would imagine that the rates (if there are any) will go in the system in the next week and a half.
