Are ALL the rooms now renovated at Sequoia Lodge?

Was on Trip Advisor last night looking up reviews for Sequoia Lodge and a number of people had posted photos from very recently (last couple of months) and some of the rooms did not look renovated to me. They still had the old decor and people were complaining about the grubbiness of the rooms. Then there were other people who had stayed at the same times and their rooms had new decor and they said it looked great after all the work.

Anybody know what the story is? I still haven't decided which hotel to stay in. Unfortunately DLH is out this year so it's between HNY, NPB and SL so went on to Trip Advisor to see some recent photos.

Of the SL and NPB hotels does anyone know which has the furthest walk if you get a room at the most distant point from the reception? I know NPB is huge but looking at SL from the air it looks pretty big too. We've always been VERY lucky and got rooms near receptions in all the hotels but that was pure chance and we could easily get a distant room this time

When I was there in June they were down to the last 2 floors for renovating, so it was the top 2 floors that were being done. All the lodges are finished, so would imagine it is very near to completion.

I would say that the NPB is the furthest distance. The SL isn't as bug as it looks, although you may get a lodge if you don't go for a Montana room which is the main building.

We stayed on the 7th floor in SQL last week and our room was refurbished and lovely if that helps.

We got a ground floor room on the wing of SL nearest the parks last year. It was fab because the corridor had an exit to the big lawn, so we didn't need go near reception etc if we didn't want to. It was refurbed too.

Thanks tennis fan. If I go for SL I do intend going for a Montana room as hate having to come outside and go in again for breakfast in the middle of winter :cold:

Thanks Cassie Reynart. Looks like it might be finished then, if you got a refurbed room on the 7th floor

That's great to hear Tink's Mum. When I was looking at the arial photos of the hotels I was wondering why they didn't have exits on the big wings to save big walks via reception.

It's funny though, reading reviews on Trip Advisor. People really don't do their research before they go. Some people were saying about SL "this is only like a 3 star hotel", eh it only gets 3 keys in the brouchure so what did you expect? Someone else said "it's only a continental breakfast, so don't expect a full english", eh you're in France, again, what do you expect? I am very selective about what I believe on Trip Advisor (about any hotel in the world not just DLP) as some people really do have bizarre expectations. :confused3

Is there a link somewhere to recent photos of the hotel/rooms? We'll be staying there in November, and very curious to see what these refurbished rooms and possible Christmas decorations look like.

Also, though it might sound silly...what's provided on the rooms with respect to toiletries? We stayed at a hotel in Legoland this summer and were rather suprised by the small towels and lack ok washcloths all together. Simply something that never occurred to me... Lol...is that something I should pack?:confused3

no washcloths - washcloths are not a European thing :).
Plenty of towels though, and soap and body/hair wash are provided in the onsite hotels at DLP.

Not tiny in my experience! Not massive bath sheets or anything but large enough to wrap around yourself!

MissSkellington there are photos on Trip Advisor, just check the date at the bottom to see when they were taken. Quite a few photos of the refurbished rooms. They look very nice

Actually I'm a big fan of the lodges, we've stayed at SL twice previously once in the main building and once in Yellowstone Lodge.
I've requested Yellowstone Lodge for our next trip as I loved it there and it was a shorter walk to reception and breakfast than from our room in the main building, a shorter walk back to the room from the park and right next door to the swimming pool lodge. :)

I wasn't overly impressed with SL at either visit and didn't think I would return but the Bambi refurbishment has changed my mind, so hope it is a refurbed room that we get :)

I'm really hoping for a sneaky little flash sale for my dates so I can upgrade to the SL this time (love the new theme and I'd love to stay there in the Winter).

We stayed in the Yellowstone Lodge last year and were in a renovated room. The walk from the lodge to the hotel for breakfast wasn't bad at all, it only took a couple of minutes and we were never out in the cold long enough for it to bother us (this was at the end of November) I too am hoping for a flash sale so that we can up grade from the Cheyenne to the SL next year!

Thank you for the suggestion to check trip advisor ....found loads of recent photos! I was reading some of the hotel reviews (which I know I probably shouldn't....lol) and I'm amazed at some of the things people pick apart, and let 'ruin' their trips. Yikes.

Fingers crossed for this flash sale, it struck me yesterday that I should've booked Cheyenne, so I could upgrade if a 50% offer came up, so spent 40 mins on the phone to dlp from 3.50 to 4.30pm, to see if I could downgrade to Cheyenne or Santa Fe, they must've been ever so busy because nobody answered :confused3
Anyway OH told me to stop fussing and leave the booking as it is, but I can't resist getting a bargain, so will be keeping an eye out too. :)

Yellowstone I think is probably one of the best positioned of the lodges, just around the corner from reception and then you're walking through the hotel anyway to breakfast :thumbsup2
