Are all breadbowls created the same?

My kids all love soup and bread bowls. The last time we ordered at Pacific Wharf, my kids thought the sourdough bread bowl tasted "weird". Does anyone know if they are the same throughout both parks? I know we can order the bread on the side, but if it's not going to get eaten, is there an option to just order a cup of soup and possibly save a little "dough"? ;-) Without the bread, I'm not sure how filling it would be and might opt for something else.
thanks!

The only thing that might be different is that the bowls have farther to go to get elsewhere on property than Pacific Wharf which is adjacent to the bakery. I'm pretty sure La Brea bakery in DTD uses their own recipe and not Boudin's.

DLR uses the same bowls in both DCA and DL. Perhaps it was something else they ate. Did they have pineapple or anything that could change the way the bread tasted? Or maybe it was just an off batch. If you order just the soup they charge the same price.

I think they just don't care for sourdough...I thought it tasted fine. We'll try again, but probably just order one, get bread on the side and let them taste mine first.
Thanks!

Take them through the bakery next door.....they can taste the sourdough bread and watch it being made and cut into the "bowls".

My kids love clam chowder in a bread bowl and have found them the same in both parks. Sourdough bread can turn out differently depending on the weather, although I expect Disney has their bakery perfectly climate controlled. Other than that, it will taste differently depending on how fresh it is...

We'll definitely try it again. You know how kids are...one day they like something and the next they don't!

I like the idea of checking out the bakery next door...thanks!

That is my understanding. And that the breadbowls are made at Boudin/Pacific Wharf bakery.

If they are picky like my husband is, you can ask for the soup/salad out of the bowl. I do think the soups and dressings can alter the taste of the bread. Also, at least at the French Market, they sell the bread bowl by it lonesome under $2.50.

I agree...I LOVE a good clam chowder in a bread bowl (raise your hand if you know of Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach!)...but the bread bowls at DLR always taste a bit "off" to me as well. Not a fan of the bread they use.

Bread snob you say?...yeah, maybe.

Boudin's bread is wonderful sourdough. I love it.
Buy it at home, have the bread bowls at DLR and go to Boudin when in SF.
SF girl originally and was so glad to find good sourdough again after living in WA for years.
