Activated our AP's at the back gate to EPCOT, they gave us the paper ones like the old park tickets used to be, not a hard plastic card like our Park Hoppers. Is this the norm? What happens if something unforseen happens to it?

That is what our annual pass is, we were told to keep our receipt seperate from the passes as with the receipt they can replace the pass if needed. I believe they charge a small fee, but nothing compared to how much to buy a new pass.

It will be replaced free of charge. All you need is ID because they will have your information in the computer.

I went many many times last year and my AP held up very well. They are very strong.

Thanks guys, DH holds the tickets while we're there, he was the one that commented on it. I had a voucher for mine that was converted, my older daughters was purchased at the gate. Should I still hold onto the receipts (yeah right, like I can find those right now in this sea of laundry) or can they just pull it up from my ID?

All you need is a driver's license or photo ID. You can safely get rid of the receipts.

For the benefit of others who read this thread, the only time you need to keep the receipts for an AP is when you have an unactivated voucher.

Once you have activated the AP, you are in the computer system and a photo ID is all that's required to have it reissued.
