Are ADRs really needed?

Hubby & I will be at DLR from Oct 27th - Nov 1 and do we really need to make ADR ? I think we're only planning to eat there maybe 3 times, not exactly sure where, except Ariel's Grotto. I'm so baffled about all the advance reservations I'm supposed to be making, that its taking the fun away :(

Unfortunately yes for some places like Le Cellier and any of the character meals like Chef Mickey's. It just depends.

I noticed you are going to DL not WDW. The info on the restaurant board pertains specifically to the restaurants and ADR's for WDW. You may want to hop on over to the DL board and ask your question about ADR's there. They can help you with info on how ADR's work there and whether you need them.

Do you want to eat somewhere in particular? Must you eat at certain times? Then the answer is yes.

Do you mind eating counter service if you can not find an opening? If the answer is no, then go ahead and do walk ups.

The way I think about it is this...

You can get lucky and get walk ups. However, you can NOT count on it. If there is a must do restaurant, then make a reservation. If you really don't care at all, then go with the flow.

But never count on a walk up.

Again, the OP's question is about DisneyLAND not WDW. From what I understand the dining situation and reservations there are VERY different than WDW in Florida.
