Hello,
We are debating if we want to have to pack 3 times while staying 12 nights.
Initially and the way it is still booked was 8 and 4. We have never stayed in any other resorts but our AKV our home resort, but the DH and would love to stay close to Epcot and DHS which are aour favorite parks, so we booked 4 nights at the BW but really wanted the BC for the pool for the kids 9 and 15. We started thinking that maybe 3 resorts would be too much. Right now is all studios but are thinking or doing a split of either 5,3,4 ot 6,2,4 booking a one bedroom in between the AKV and the Boardwalk.
Do you guys think 3 resorts would be too much??
The other option is to change the BW to a one bedroom to enjoy more space after staying in a studio for 8 nights.

It might be too much. I would only do it if you had at least 3 nights at a resort. We have always done split stays (4, then 3), as we like to try different resorts. They make it easy to do. We drop our luggage off and then head to a park. I bring our swimsuits with us and we head to a park. We head to the new resort and enjoy the pool. I do all the packing and haven't minded yet. :goodvibes The resorts are almost as important as the parks to us and we have loved each of them for different reasons. If you don't mind the packing, then go for it. I tend to pack for three or four days and do laundry, so it doesn't bother me. You had mentioned the 1 bdrm, which I would suggest you end your trip with - it's so much more enjoyable to go from a smaller space to a bigger space.

I would probably go for it because I love split stays. Your kids are totally old enough to pack their own stuff so that would be a big help.

Our favorite parks on "moving day" are the water parks. Since we tend to hit them a little bit later in the morning than the other parks, that extra time in the morning can be used to pack and take our luggage to Bell Services. We head off in our swimming suits, spend the day at TL or BB, then take the bus to our new resort when we are finished at the water park. By then, it's time to check in. I know not everyone has had this experience, but our split stays have been a breeze! Love them!! It's like two different vacations in one.....in your case, it would be three vacations in one!

Good luck with your decision. I agree with the OP, I would go from smaller quarters to larger quarters, not the other way around.

I do a lot of splits (family of 4), but I would not put 2 days in the middle. I have a 10 night 2 studio at AKV, 3 1br at BVC and 5 1br at VWL in June. I am waitlisted for 1 more night at BCV repacing one of the VWL nights to make it 2-4-4.

The move from BCV to BWV is a very easy one, so that might make me give it more thought.

We will take our bathing suits on moving day or go to the water park.
I was thinking of staying some days at BCV if I can get some and then finish with the BWV that I have. So you guys would not do a one bedroom in between to do laundry and get more room for a while?
We currently have a studio at the BWV

I would try to get BCV, instead of BWV. I wouldn't want to do three resorts with the family.

Regarding moving three times, who does the packing and unpacking? If it's one person--no way would I move three times. And if you have lots of groceries it would add to the difficulties. More bags to keep track off and making sure nothing is lost.

Just some advice when doing split stays. Instead of packing a suitcase per person pack based on resort. And remember like someone posted above to place the swimsuits and sunscreen in the carry on.

We usually schedule our vacations so the shorter reservation is at the beginning of the vacation and the longer later. E.g. we are staying at AKV concierge for 2 nights on our next trip and moving to SSR for another week. For the two nights we will pack one suitcase for that trip that includes our kits and toiletries and clothes for two days. And then at SSR bring in all the suitcases. For a family of four I could see bringing two suitcases at one resort and all four at the second resort.

We usually do laundry because we don't pack for the entire trip but we always wait until we are at the resort with the longest stay (or perhaps when you have a 1BR might be your choice).

Packing for each segment just means less unpacking and repacking or living out of suitcases.

We almost always do split stays. They can be fun but they can also be a pain. We move between villas as well as between villas and typical hotel rooms. I find the moves between villas to be the most challenging simply because of groceries. In order to make the transitions easier I almost always do most of the packing the night before. It is inevitable that you will end up spending more time on the transition than you originally anticipated. You have to decide if the trade-off of the time sacrificed is worth changing environments for a few days.

We did 4 moves in 14 day before and I have vowed to never do it again, Although Disney makes the moves flawless, there are still check in / check out times to be observed and luggage my not be available till after five. I now limit to two moves - far better.

I would not want to move that much, but 3 nights is also my limit in a studio. I would go with the 1 bedroom after the studio stay.

We are the 13th to the 23rd.

I just pieced together 4 days in a 1 br at BC by booking 3 days a couple of days ago and then adding on 1 day today, so we are at 1 day at Jambo CL studio, 4 days in a 1br BCV and 5 days in a VWL 1br.

Of course I check several times a day on line to see what pops up.

Two moves counting the one to go home?
so only two resorts or three?
thanks

The challenge is that every day you move, you lose the ability to use your room from about 11am to 4pm (worst case scenario), so your ability to take a nap, use your room to shower after swimming, etc is limited those days.

i could see the first time you move being exciting, but the second time you move just getting in the way of enjoying your trip. I know that when i am forced to change resorts, it always feels like a lost day.

that said, only you know if you would like it or not. many love to resort hop!

I've actually done a split stay of only one night in a resort... mainly so we could try BLT when we were new members! (We could only get one night for the time we were there). Split stays certainly are not the same as staying for an extended period in one resort, but if you go in knowing it will be a short stay and you want a get a taste of the resort, it is fine and actually enjoyable. We are actually doing a split stay in June... 3 nights at BCV, the Dream for 4 nights, and end the trip with 2 nights at BLT. I'm mentally preparing for the moving. It isn't ideal, but we want to squeeze in different things on this trip, so I know we will have fun. If you want to try these resorts, I say do it! Next time you can settle into one resort for an extended period. I'm having a lot of fun trying new resorts. Have a great trip whatever you decide!

I always love experiencing different resorts so last time we stayed for 4 nights at BWV in a 1br, 1 night at Vero in a Inn Room and 4 nights at AKV. We had also done a similar trip the time before, BCV 5 nights, AKV 3 nights and HH 1 night (all studios).

The first experience in the studios made us realise that 1br's were much better for us - in particular at HH. On the second trip, I found that even though I was really organised and it didn't take too long to pack, it was pretty tiring. I also agree with the person who said that its better to have the long stretch at the end of the trip (when 24 hours seem like 12 hours!). We have opted to stay one night at RPH so that we can see Universal for the first time; then we'll have 9 nights at BVW. I'm really looking forward to settling in one place and we really loved BVW during our last trip, being able to walk to HS/Epcot, having use of the community hall and access to the tennis courts and Boardwalk is priceless.

I must be getting old, I can't believe that I'm saying all this - I'm a person who used to go backpacking around Europe before kids. What happened to moving 100 miles every night :)

Just did 4 nights OKW 1 night BWV followed by another 2 nights OKW. What we did was packed based on number of days. We packed the one night by itself so when we checked in that day we would take the one suitcase and the toiletries. So there was no unpacking and packing everytime. We would go early to check into our next resort and most times they had a room ready. If not we left bags with bell services (which also has a frig to keep your cold stuff). SO for my family 3 resorts in 12 days is totally doable and enjoyable. Just remembered that we actually stayed 1 night at All Star Sports before all of this.

Our vacation time is way too valuable to do a room change unless we are forced to because of availability. That being said, we have done it. It takes a chunk out of your vacation time for both packing up and unpacking even though Disney moves your bags. You also may go hours without a villa. Whatever you choose, put your 1 BR option at the end because you won't want to be scrunched up into a studio after you enjoy the space of a 1 BR :goodvibes

I realize everyone has their own way of vacationing and some like to hotel hop. It's not relaxing for me if I have to worry about a move. We bring a lot of our own stuff and have owner's lockers so there's a lot to put away if we move, not to mention the hassle of things in the fridge and freezer. It's just not worth it for us.
