Are 18 year olds allowed in all adult cruise locations?

OK, perhaps off topic, but still possibly relevant IMO.

Can't 18 y/o US citizens drink beer / wine aboard DCL in non US waters with parents permission, when aboard, with a signed / notarized / finger printed declaration / destruction clause / contract / with Credit Card deposit / etc. ? ? ?

Assigning incredible penalties if things go south?

Or am I recalling only Europe sailings? ? ?

Did anyone mention alcohol? lol.

TIA

This only applies to sailings that leave from European ports. However, anyone 18 or older can drink while in any of the Caribbean ports, other than Castaway Cay.

Looks like you already got your answer, but I did want to confirm that my 19 year old was carded for sitting in the Cove Cafe. They first asked if she was at least 18 and after she and I both said, "yes," they asked to see her Key Card.

That's why it's a good idea to carry your KTTW card onboard. If she was indeed 18, that's all she'd have to show.

She was acting like she wasn't 18, it was shady and she eventually left. I think the CM has seen it before and kept pressing her for a reason. I was impressed as to the extent of ensuring the adult sections stay adult.

Gotcha. (I could also see an 18 year old - especially if newly minted 18 year old - copping an attitude like "I showed it to someone already...")

Even if they are 18, there is a possibility they will be asked for the ID. As others have said, once the regular crew in the area knows the person, they will likely stop.

Look at it as buying anything you have to show proof of age for. Is it annoying? Sure - I was still getting carded at the wine shop when I was 42 (twice the legal age to purchase in the US), and it got old. But there are reasons for it. Just smile, show the card, and let it go. Life - and especially vacation - is too short to stress about being asked for an ID.

I saw a CM chase a young gal out of the adult pool on our last cruise, I think she was actually of age too but she just looked really really young and finally gave up and left

On one of our cruises I saw a girl who didn't look a day over 16 in the adult pool and lounges. She was constantly being carded by the CM to insure she could be in the adult areas. One night she was at the table next to ours in one of the lounges so I politely asked her how old she was and she replied she was a week short of 22! She said she had been asked to show her KTTW card lot at first but as the CMs met her she was carded less and less. She realized she looked young and took it all in stride, though I can appreciate how annoying it was to her.

I just gotta say, someday, she may look back on those days fondly. I remember the days, years even, of being carded long after I turned 21. Nowadays, I wouldn't mind at ALL if someone thought I was under 21. Not gonna happen though. :)

I generally laugh a little in the stores when I get carded. I'm WAAAAAY past 21, but it doesn't really bother me, as I know they're only doing their job.

I told her that and she said with her luck she'd still look under 21 when she was 60. She was a nice girl and I felt a little sad for her that she had to keep proving her age, but I told her DD28 also looked under 21 so was always being carded as well.

I'm way older as well, but occasionally get carded because the clerk is required. I jokingly say something like, "Looks like I dyed my hair gray for nothing. How did you know I only turned 21." I almost always get a smile or chuckle.

My oldest is 20, and I'm confident she would be carded constantly in the 18+ areas. She could easily pass for 16. We'd definitely tell her to carry her ID.

All she needs to have with her is her KTTW card. She doesn't need to carry separate ID. Since the KTTW card is also the room key, she'd probably have that with her at all times anyway.
