Aquarium of the Pacifc & beach

Who has been? It is worth it? My ds has been asking to see marine life, and I thought this might be a good day trip from DL.
Also are there any good beach areas between the aquarium and DL to stop at within a 2 & 6 yo? We will likely be going the end of January, so I expect the weather is cooler them but we are from Central Canada so anything other than freezing and snow feels good to us.

I haven't been to the aquarium in years, but it was very nice the last time I was there.

As for beaches, if you drive back to Disneyland by going south on Highway 1 you will pass a ton of beaches and cute beach towns. I like Seal Beach. It has a cute little main street that leads out to the pier. Sandy Beach on both sides. From there you can cut straight north to the 22 and then take the 5 back to Disneyland.

Hi. I live in Long Beach and volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is a great place to discover marine life. The exhibits are about the various parts of the Pacific Ocean from the Arctic to the Tropics. In January on school days there are many school field trips to the aquarium. If you want to tag along arrive around 10am. If you prefer quiet, come around 2pm after the school groups leave. The aquarium is built on Rainbow Harbor and there are Whale watching trips that depart next door to the aquarium. The area is very tourist friendly with many restaurants and shops, and even hotels if you want one. The previous poster is correct that there are lots of beaches if you follow Pacific Coast Highway. Long Beach has breakwater so the waves are smaller, further south is Seal Beach or Huntington Beach (home to international surfing competitions). These are all easy drives back to Disneyland.
