AP's with RFID?

Wondering if any of the 'locals' (townies for you Kathy) that have Annual Passes can tell me if Disney is currently adding RFID to them. Val & I will be hitting the parks next week but aren't staying on property until the weekend. Even at that point its the Swolphin.

I know we can use our current AP's anyway. I just thought if they were changing them out that we would get new cards just to see what they will do.

I still remember the days of the coupon books. THOSE were low tech.

Then they moved to the passports where the date of visit was stamped on upon entering the park.

I remember the multi day passports with the date stamps Mike. Coupon books were a bit before I started going (1978?).

The ticket books lasted until 1981 or 1982 actually, but in 1977 they started to introduced the unlimited "passports" as well.

That makes sense Brian. I remember having an unlimited passport on that first trip, but I also remember a ticket booth next to the carousel where people could buy extras.

but those 8 rides didn't mean 8 E ticket rides - it was a combination of A, B, C, D and E ticket rides.
"A" rides were the mainstreet vehicles, things like that.
i don't remember which rides were B - maybe the swiss family robinson treehouse?...
C rides i think were Peter Pan, Mr Toad, Snow White, etc....
One of my all time favorite rides was a D ticket ride - the Wedway people mover (AKA Tomorrowland Transit Authority) ...i know this because my mother in law, who worked for the sponsor, would give us a handful of D tickets every time we went to WDW so that we could ride on the people mover to our hearts content!!
and what was an E? i can't remember what existed then. I guess Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Small World, Jungle Cruise and such. And of course, Space Mountain.

i used to know them all, but it's been a long long time.

i don't have any e tickets left, but the As and Bs are still in my little box of treasures (along with my buffalo head nickel)...

Right now the entire MagicBand, FastPass Plus, RFID Chips, and everything else related to NextGen is in a state of flux and nobody will be able to give a definite answer to anything related to them until at least a few months after everything is rolled out.

We stopped at guest relations inside Epcot a couple of days ago to get new sleeves for our PAPs

The CM said they didn't print new ones this year because they expected the changeover to RFID which will mean replacing all the APs. She said there would be a custom wrist band option.

She also said that things were in a state flux. Original expectations were for a feb/mar rollout.
