I thought I would join the fun and share with you my DFTW planning. I have seen so many good ideas on the boards here and I really enjoy hearing about what other Disney brides are doing!
We are having an intimate on April 27th, 2007 at Sea Breeze Point. I'm over the moon with excitement and my DF is afraid I will go into a depression once I have no more Disney wedding planning to do! I am a born planner so I reassured him that I will promptly begin putting our 10 year VR plan together once we return from our Disneymoon at Disneyland!

Background: I grew up less than two hours from WDW and was lucky enough to be born into a Disney kind of family. My parents and grandparents did their best to nurture my fanatical obession!
DF is from South Carolina and visited a few times as a kid.
We met online and began dating almost 5 years ago. Guess where we took our first vacation?? 6 days at WDW and I had him hooked!
Once I got him all moved to FL his first question was when can I get my AP??? Ever since then we have been to the parks at least twice per month. People constantly ask if we get bored with it and we have no idea what they are talking about!

The Engagement: I knew it was coming because we went to have the ring made together. I had no idea what he had planned. We headed down to WDW on December 23rd. It had been years since I had spent Christmas at MK and I was so excited! I wanted to be there when the gates opened. DF suggested we get a photopass photo in front of the castle right as we arrived. I suggested we wait until the evening so we could go back to the hotel and get dressed up a bit (and I could put on some make-up!). I had no clue that he was going to propose when they snapped the picture... so I blew it! We hung out at MK most of the day, went back to the hotel for a nap and shower, headed over to MGM for a nice romantic dinner at the Brown Derby. Somehow I never noticed the ring box sticking out of his pocket all day! DUH! Anyway, as soon as we walk out of the Brown Derby the sky bursts open and it begins to pour. So much for the idea of a nice dressed up picture in front of the castle on Christmas Eve. We headed back to the MK and it was packed! So much so that they had pulled all the photographers off Main St for fear of someone getting hurt. DF suggested we make a run fo SM. It's closed so I take this opportunity to suggest we take a nice ride on the good ole Wedway Peoplemover... my fav! DF hates this ride but agrees. We are the only ones on it. He leans over and says "You know how much I love you, right?" and I'm like uh huh... yea... oh look at the pretty lights. Then he says "You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, right?" and I'm all "that's sweet hunny". The entire time he had been holding out the ring and I was completely oblivious! I start crying as he asks me to marry him and then the Peoplemover enters SM. The lights are on! We've never seen SM with lights on! So I don't know if I should look at him, the ring, or SM! We checked it out then had a good laugh and a few tears. After that we headed back to Main St to see if we could now get an engagement picture. Everyone was lined up for the parade so when I held out my hand to show the ring the whole crowd cheered.
The day after Christmas I immediately called DFTW! My parents were prepared because I've been talking about this since I could talk. Of course when I was 4 I was going to marry Mickey but luckily I found a pretty good substitute in DF. I wanted to do a custom but after the sit down with the folks my dad gave me a choice. I could do a custom or I could do an intimate and he would give us the rest of the money. We thought about it for quite awhile. After trying to narrow down the guest list to a reasonable number for a custom we decided it was too much stress! The intimate is just much easier when it comes to the guest list!

One of our biggest debates has been how to decorate Sea Breeze Point. My mom is pretty creative so she decided to make something. I didn't want to spend money on flowers that I would only see for an hour. The best part is these will look great in our bedroom back home after the wedding!
Here is what she came up with:

We are also doing to MK and Epcot photo sessions. After the ceremony we decided to have dinner at Raglan Road in Downtown Disney. This is one of our favorite hangouts so it was fitting for us! We are then heading over to the Morroco Terrace for an Illuminations Dessert Party.

Hopefully I will soon have pics of our gift bags to share. We live 15 minutes from the WDW outlet so they now know our names there! The gift bags have been the most fun!

Haha I saw the hobby lobby bag and knew instantly you were my kinda girl! I love your moms creations. Congats on your upcoming wedding and I cant wait to hear more about it!

how romantic & what a fun proposal....so things are more memorable when they dont go according to plan

I love the flowers,,,they came out great

I love hobby lobby too....its a crafters mecca

good luck & keep us updated:3dglasses

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Thanks for sharing! :-)

I love, love, love those flowers! :goodvibes Are they real flowers? If you don't mind, how did she make them? My grandma is real crafty & wouldn't mind making a couple in our wedding colors (we are also getting hitched at SBP). I also want to decorate SBP, but can't justify $$$ for one hour. I did plan on getting some rose petals for the walkway.
Good luck with the rest of your planning; can;t wait to read more!

I'm the same way! I just can't pay for flowers for an hour. These weren't cheap to do (she won't tell me the full cost yet) but I get to keep them so that works for me. There are even little hidden Mickey's in crystal on the ribbons. I will probably paint the baskets down the road and work them into my Disney decor.
I'm doing rose petals too but I'm bringing my own. Disney wants $2 per stem!

The topiaries are silk flowers from everyone's favorite place Hobby Lobby! Unfortunately I did not inherit the creative gene but thankfully she's got it!
She had to take the hydrangea apart and wrap the stems together with floral wire and picks. She started with styrofoam balls and pvc pipe. The baskets are weighted down with some kind of plaster and the pipe is fixed within it.
She is actually making little mini ones to put in the gift bags.

This board has been so awesome! I've seen some really great ideas from all of you! I'm totally addicted!

oh I love those flowers! so creative! can I use them at my wedding? it's 3 days after yours... :lmao:

Your mom is very Creative! beautiful decor and a lovely, SURPRISE proposal! You'll never forget that moment!

I got confirmation this week from Rosie ( I LOVE her!) that we can have pictures done on the Peoplemover during our MK photo shoot! Yippee! I think they all just got such a good laugh when I requested it that they gave it the go ahead. Rosie said it's definitely the first request she's had for it and the MK people said it was their first time hearing someone was engaged there. Oh well, that's us daring to be different... ha!
I'm forfeiting the carousel pics to do the Peoplemover and the Haunted Mansion. Disney is so awesome!
I still can't decide which areas of Epcot to chose. Our wedding is during the flower festival so I'm sure everything will be beautiful. Any suggestions ladies??

So here is the rest of our itinerary for our 18 guests:

Wednesday: MK and hanging out at DD
Thursday: The guys are heading to IOA and the rest of us to AK.
My bridesmaid and 2 best friends and I have SS Spa appts at 5.
Then it's Ohana's for everyone except the Groom's friends at 8.
I'm thinking about heading to Jellyrolls after that!

Saturday: MGM for the day. ADR for everyone at 50s Prime Time Cafe and then meet up later for Fantasmic
