Ok I hope I don't sound too confusing but here goes.....our school always has the 3rd week of April off for spring break. It has been modified in the past if Easter falls in April so if Easter fell the 2nd Sunday we may get the 2nd week of April off. That said i'm sure in that case April vacation weeks are packed at the parks right? BUT, in 2008 Easter falls in March, the 23rd to be exact so I know our school is still having spring vacation in April again. Do you think the crowds will still be bad in April or will it be busier in March following Easter?? Not sure if other schools do the same thing we do. I'm just trying to plan so the kids don't miss too much school. And it's never too early to start planning a Disney vacation! It's just soooooo far away!

I am planning to go during school vacation in April 2008. I am hoping that because Easter is so early, crowds will be lighter. The other reason is that not all schools take vacation that week. In New England they vary from state to state. I am planning on the 13th, we will get our calendar in February to be sure. I will be calling on December 1st to make reservations!

Most of the country has spring break in March. I'm sure if Easter falls in March next year, many will time their spring break to coincide with that holiday.

We went a long time ago, twice, in mid to late April. It was a very pleasant trip both times. The only problem is that is when it seems that many local elementary and jr/middle school classes seem to take a field trip to Disney World. Our first trip there, one day at the Magic Kingdom with lots of basically unsupervised pre-teens, was almost too much. That didn't seem to be a problem at other parks though, just MK.

Most public schools in Mass and Maine also have their spring break during the third week of April. This will be true in 2008. We have gone during this week when Easter had been a few weeks earlier, and it is still crowded. All over the place all you will hear are Boston accents and see red sox caps. As long as you can live with that, it should be ok. But it will still be somewhat crowded, the parks will close earlier, and at the end of the week you could run into grad nights. But the hotel rates will no longer be in the peak season.

SO when you say crowded, do you mean 1 hr or more waits or less than that? We are a little spoiled since we went the last week of October in 2002 and first week in December 2004 the lines were minimal but each time there were days that MK was absolutely packed. Of course i'm more aware of EMH's and such so I can avoid some of the crowds. Also should I wear my Yankee cap? ;)

what week in March usually?

I'm about an hour and a half North of Orlando, but I think we have the same weeks.. Us, college kids, are off the third week of March, and the secondary school kids are out the second week of March. I would stick to the first week, if you're going in March.. April should be okay, but we get a LOT of out of towners during that period.. but like I said, first week of March the best.

If in April, stick to the weekdays.

Hope that helps.
