I went in May of this year and managed to miss GRAD Nights and a race but only by chance.

I'd like to maybe return again next spring. I liked the weather in May but don't want to hit a busy time.

How's April? Any big events to try to avoid? (Easter is March 27)

Or would sticking to first week in May be okay?

Just found the race is scheduled May 5-8 in 2016. So really think April.

We were there 4/19-4/24 of 2013, and it was terrific - mostly. Crowds were practically non-existent, but the park hours were pretty crappy - the Monday and Tuesday we were there, both closed at 8:00 pm - it wasn't even dark out! So no evening parades or shows those days, just on the weekends. Also, both BTMRR and Space Mountain were closed the whole time we were there. But we still had a great time.

I'm not a parade fan and I can take or leave fireworks. Hours were pretty early in May as well. Like 8 and 9 (except Sunday was 10 or 11).

I could work with that.

How was the weather?

The weather was quite nice. Sunny and probably in the 70s, as I remember.

The peak Spring Break period is likely to span the week before and after Easter (based on when the SoCal and SoCal Select APs are blocked). School districts have varying "spring breaks", so some schools get out in March, while others have their break in April (I'm working on the 2016 Calendar of Events thread - look for that later this month).

Cool I'll keep an eye out for it. I found one random calander online that showed no events in April so I was not real confident in it's reliability, I can't believe NOTHING is happening in April. Figured you guys would have a better idea of what's what.

I was there during the third week in April this year and it was great, definitely a time that I would go again. Crowds weren't bad and the weather was nice.

We have gone several times during the second week of May and it's a very slow time. Often times the biggest rides are 10 minutes or less wait.

We have been twice in April and it's wonderful. My kids' spring break doesn't coincide with Easter or with most schools' spring breaks, so the park is usually not that crowded and both times we've gotten a pin code for on-site hotels. We've been Tuesday to Thursday both times. There are usually rides down for refurbishment during that time, as they do repairs so rides will be ready for summer. But generally it's an awesome time to go -- not too hot either!

I was wondering the same thing. We are heading to San Diego March 30th to April 1st then DLR April 1st to 9th. I just realized this is the week after easter so I hope it isnt too bad

I am planning on visiting next April for the first time and will be staying at the GC. Is it generally warm enough to swim?

It's really hard to say. The weather can be quite variable at that time of year, anywhere from cold and rainy to a hot dry heat. When I was there this year it would have been hot enough to swim. However I believe just a couple of weeks later it was cold and wet out.

Of course, it also depends on your definition of what is hot enough to swim.

First week of May this year I was fine in shorts and tshirt but as soon as the sun went down people started pulling out the long pants and heavy hoodies. I was okay with a zip up hoodie but I'd plan on swimming to the middle of the day.

So I know it's an old thread but I have started booking for an end of April trip. As of now I booked the last two nights at one of the Best Westerns (not BWPPI) that's over on the Paradise Pier side of the area near Anabella. I did this as I'm thinking I might splurge and book the first 2 or 3 nights at Paradise Pier and I figured it would be easy to transfer. I'm a fan of onsite in FL and I wanted to onsite in CA at least once to compare. I'm waiting to see if any April deals come out, and I'm assuming that PP will be the least expensive, but I'm beginning to think that PP is so far away that I might as well be staying offsite. HAHA. I'm also planning a London/maybe DLP trip in the fall so keeping costs reasonable will factor into this trip.

Got airfare, and I'll wait for park tickets until I know about April deals on hotels. So DLR in April here I come!

We're going in mid April for our spring break. We're also hoping it's not that crowded but we did move our dates up to cover some of the weekend too for fireworks and being there after dark (hopefully).
