This morning May 2020 was very open in lots of resorts, not so now. I haven't seen any announcements. Did I miss it?

The cash side is not taking reservations until June 1st, They are no longer allowing tickets to be purchased or dining to be booked before June 1st.

So, while nothing has been announced, those are pretty strong signs they won’t open until them,

Now, if DVC is blocked out rooms, I’d say they are following suit and doesn’t want people booking rooms.

SSR is showing nothing at all, which tells you they took it all of it away, I think if you see a room here or there pop up, it’s probably from someone who just canceled online.

It looks like they're planning on keeping things closed through May 31st (obviously, things can change if there is new overriding information). If they do open on June 1st, and I have a reservation starting in May and ending in June (e.g. May 30 - June 6) will they automatically cancel the entire reservation or just the days in May?

I’d love to know because our dates are May 30-June 6 as well. 😑

I don’t know but I might call and ask that question. However, I do think we will know about a June 1st opening well before that so I think you would be okay

I mentioned this the other day because it was something that I had been observing with the online booking tool. Either DVC is removing these rooms from inventory as they come available through cancellations or there is a significant portion of the membership that is snagging the May cancellations with the expectation/hope of a May reopening.

Where are you seeing this availability? Everytime I go to look, I just get the "seven dwarfs" image

I had to close and reopen my browser. I also cleared my cache. I saw availability around 7:50am EDT, on a later check I saw the dwarfs. After seeing other folks talk about availability I tries a different browser and it worked. My primary browser still saw the dwarfs. After restart and cache clearing, the primary browser worked. No promise, but try either a different browser or restart.

I think they’re just getting booked up. I got a waitlist yesterday and just logged in now. Extremely limited but BWV and CCV popped up as having rooms for me on a random late May Day.

I think the days you are seeing are from people canceling online. Yesterday, when I checked, there were no rooms at any resort of any size for May.

I just don’t think system has run to taken them out Yet

Interesting. So in essence you’re saying Disney has their own waitlist to occupy the rest of the reservations. And until they kick people could theoretically still stalk reservations.

I think they found a way to make nothing show up for booking and put all rooms as waitlist only because they won’t be filled,

I don’t think they want people to have the ability to book for May when all signs points to June 1st opening and the rooms are still showing then, If someone isn’t really paying close attention, they could book a May stay, borrow points and then be upset if Disney reverses policy and they lose the points

The first few days after they closed until further notice it wasn’t like that. But by yesterday it was.

I have a trip planned for May 29-June 4. When I tried to book FPs for those 3 days in May -- THERE WAS NOTHING available for DHS...but June 1st had everything available. I checked MK and the only things you could book were dumbo and philharmagic type FPs.

That tells me that Disney is pretty much assuming they won't be fully operational before June 1st.

Not to mention -- they're running that free dining thing now starting June 1st.

Hate to say it -- but all of May is looking bleak.

Trying to decide if I cancel altogether, or if I should just cancel the first 3 days and move them to the end of the trip. Finding availability is going to be a huge PITA now though.

I think people are booking may in hopes to qualify for the free dining promotion for June and beyond.

Disney is not allowing cash guests to book anything before June 1st. But, if a DVC member wants to book the free dining cash package, then if they can find something on DVC it would help!

I mean they are booking may because your original stay has to be before may 31st. So people who didnt have that are perhaps booking it now thinking they can then cancel it and book june with free dining.

Any cash guest who didn’t already have a reservation has been prevented from booking in May since the beginning of the week.

So, while a DVC member may be able to book a Poijts night to qualify themselves, cash guests are prevented, because Disney shut down new reservations. There is no way for a cash guest to book May just so it can be canceled and then get free dining

threw away my 4 nights at RIV standard and 2 nights at CCV studio from May 29 to June 4th.

Added Poly 4 nights and RIV standard for 2 nights, with a start date of June 5th. Not ideal -- but not bad considering it's 64 days out. We are truly in weird times. Hopefully the extra few days buys me some time.

I'm fortunate that the kiddos have no idea about this trip. I feel so bad for those parents that had told the kiddos about an upcoming trip and then had to cancel---especially those "once in a lifetime" trippers.

From what I have seen people are cancelling but the days are being picked up quickly. I am guessing it is by members who lost reservations earlier with June UY points that are expiring and are just booking on the of chance that the resorts will be open

IMO, I just don't is Disney opening before August or later. that's just realistic to me.
