I love the idea.

I browsed for custom Hawaiian shirts and came across this company in California:

Corinna

Corinna - put a call into Wetdog to see what they can help us with but they aren't open on Fridays, will talk with them on Monday and see what they can offer. Really like the idea of only needed an order of 48, even if it is a little more expensive.

Val

Thanks - right now my idea is to come up with six different surfboards, like the one I showed with the 'pluto' representation, for the fab5 and daisy. Then six different balloons in two different sizes, like the Jordak design one I showed. The last picture is what the material would look like with all three elements, the bottom trim, balloons and sufboards put together.

But the company you found is a really good alternative. I am working on a logo idea I think might work. This design is adapted from something Kreative Design by Kelly had out on the web as free clip art.

Not very tropical though.

Val

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought they were three different concepts rather than one. This sounds really fantastic.

Val - if you and Bob don't mind please continue on the same shirt idea. Anything you can come up with will be greatly appreciated and admired by all.

Bob also suggested maybe we just get shirts made with material similar to the dress Lilo wears, with text on it unique to our cruise. This would be simple to do and we would all have the same cruise shirt.

I'll keep working on it and see what Becky and her artist says. Unless the group is no longer interested in having me continue on this.

Val

I imagine the "group" is still interested in matching shirts

I think this sounds great! I think designs by WETDOG look nice, too. I just know it would be great fun to have matching shirts. They would even be nice over a sundress or tank top and shorts.

.when we officially did the legal marriage thing and we decided we would both be using my last name from this point forward...so we're now legally married----Erik & Jason Libey! :thumbsup2

(It was quite an eventful weekend as we were one of the first couples in Rochester to get our license and so we were on several news stations, got interviewed and quoted, etc.)

oh, you news-hounds you! How exciting. :yay::yay::yay: I thought about you when they were showing the marriages in NYC.

and so we haven't actually started thinking about our cake yet....but we'll probably have tigger and roo cake toppers (although i really want an orange and blue cake, too...so we'll have to see if it will look awful or not! :lmao:

university of illinois illini colors are orange and blue!

Cool!

Yeah, Salt Lake to Long Beach isn't bad, especially when I pay to ship all the scrapbook stuff down there and then the post office loses one of my boxes! :rotfl: (I can only have a sense of humor about it now, it wasn't very pleasant at the time)

Anyway, Jamie wants to go a couple of days early, so we may end up driving down on Friday after I get off work. If not, I'll ship my stuff UPS to Adrienne and Tony and then pick it up after we fly in.

GLAD the scrapbook thing is still a GO!

The surfboard is cute! That wet dog has some cute shirts. I'm sure they can do something with your design, Val. Did you abandon all the old ideas?

Thank you Val, please continue. You are continuing to have some great ideas.

I agree with Marilyn, Val....you are doing the best job and I know we're all going to be wearing some awesome matching shirts for this trip. Keep working on it and we'll get there. And thank you so very much for taking this on. I know it's very time consuming. We appreciate it.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor about it now. I remember waiting to get the CG stuff. They said since we had to change Berths at the last minute, that it was delayed....right up until the day that I needed it. I guess I should be thankful that I got it at all.....better than what they did to you.

Hopefully by the time we do Hawaii next year, they will have all the bugs worked out.

Well, I learned to say "Congratulations!" to the groom, and for some reason, "Best wishes" is more appropriate for the bride -- because she has to deal with the man? -- so congratulations to you both. We wish you both the best. Like full equality, maybe?

So I officially jumped on the boat and will be joining this very merry group. I was able to snag an inside cabin and convince my husband that a two week Disney cruise to Hawaii would be the very best 10 year anniversary trip ever - especially our first trip ever without kids. (We never got a honeymoon) Maybe I should just bill this as our honeymoon, only had wait 10 years! :cool1:

Congrats. We are booking our airfare this weekend. We held off because we weren't 100% sure what names to put on the reservations until this past monday.....when we officially did the legal marriage thing and we decided we would both be using my last name from this point forward...so we're now legally married----Erik & Jason Libey! :thumbsup2

Congratulations Mr and Mr Libey!

Bob and I have been thinking about alternatives too. A lot of you, and Bob, have Hawaiian style shirts, with tropical prints which include Disney characters, made and sold by Disney. I haven't found any tropical Disney material nor these type of shirts sold in volume (you can find individual items on Ebay). If we could find the material or the shirts for sale, we could all wear the same shirt.

Bob also suggested maybe we just get shirts made with material similar to the dress Lilo wears, with text on it unique to our cruise. This would be simple to do and we would all have the same cruise shirt.

The design I am working on would be unique to our group and cruise but would not have the Disney characters exactly. I am working on a concept that has multicolored flower leis shaped sorta like Mickey balloons in different sizes, with images in the center of the balloon. The images include a map of Hawaii, a castle, a cruise ship with two stacks, etc. Along with the balloons would be six surfboards each with it's own color and image on the board; a red bow, a pink bow, a blue sailor hat, a green floppy hat, a pair of red shorts with yellow buttons and a green dog collar and bone. I have text indicating our cruise dates, ports, etc. in the images.

A six inch border would be at the bottom of the shirt. It is multi-color hibiscus, like the lei balloons, with cruise text in a strip between the flower borders. I like the idea of a border at the bottom of the shirts, because it breaks up the busy design on the shirt and it makes the shirt design more vertical rather then horizontal.

I'll keep working on it and see what Becky and her artist says. Unless the group is no longer interested in having me continue on this.

Val

Val, everyone really appreciates all the work you have put into this, I hope it hasn't been too stressfull for you. You deserve DOD's from everyone on board wearing a shirt! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Welcome aboard! OF COURSE it's your honeymoon - just a little delayed!

Linda

I like a lot of the designs on Wet Dog too. I'll give them a call Monday and see what they are willing to do. I tried yesterday but they aren't open on Fridays. Maybe they are willing to use the characters, but somehow I doubt it. Is there a none character driven logo we like? Brooklyn, any ideas?

The old designs I had posted really needed the characters - I think. I had tried other images but they didn't seem to work. Last night, after reading your message, I took another try at the lst idea, the green and brown converted to blue flowers. I am not happy with what I am coming up with but will keep trying.
