April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

Just booked a pre cruise stay on the Queen Mary .. Then the Super Shuttle
or cab to the ship . Stayed there once before.. quite the experience.

I would love to stay there, but we will probably be over that coast for 2 nights so I think it might not be the best place to stay for longer than 1 night. Also don't want 1 night in one place and 1 in another. We will see.

Had a beautiful afternoon at pier 39, wishing the Wonder happy sailing.

Bob & I, aka valbob89, met a number of old friends from the DISboards, Shirley & Doug aka ChipperMerlin, Sandy & Tony aka goofprincess, Hilary and her two children, Monica & Trevoy aka got2travel, Johanna aka renegade7, & Noel & John aka Birkner. Along with a zillion visitors to pier39, we were thrilled to hear and watch the ship leave wishing we were on her.

Bob took over 165 pictures. Here are a few I downloaded.

ship had just backed out of the slip.

almost no one on their balcony but a lot of people up on deck10 to watch as they slip under the Golden Gate.

San Francisco Fire Boat put on a show for all of us and escorted her past Alcatraz, Angel Island and to the bridge.

Amazing photos thanks Val! :cheer2:

How did you book the Queen Mary - its showing as unavailable via their booking engine?

We went on their site...went to the book online section. Paid around 134 dollars for a deluxe kingbed. It opened up yesterday...I had been checking daily.Stayed before..right at Long beach Port..Carnival parked smack beside it. Free shuttle ( 5 mins) to stores etc. Very touristy.Supper shuttle right at hotel ( 3 min walk )..or cab . We plan on grabbing a cab early..to try to get ahead of some of the masses :).Great pictures on the Queen Mary site.

Yesterday, at pier 39, waiting for the Wonder to leave, one of the zillion visitors to the attraction asked if those of us waiting had someone on the ship or what. When we said we did not, they clearly couldn't understand why we were so interested in seeing her. We tried to explain how much we enjoy DCL but they still weren't getting it. Finally, Bob said "we are Disney Cruise Line Groupies". They just looked at us for a few moments and then said OOOOH, and walked away. I thought it was all very funny. Maybe I'll get a shirt made that says "Official Disney Cruise Line Groupie".

That sounds good! I think we all qualify too:rotfl:

Noel & John, it was great to see you yesterday. These pictures are wonderful. Thanks so much for posting them.

Val & Bob

Wow. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. I so wish I was there. We were originally booked on this b2b with Alaska but had to cancel.

My husband ordered two Mickey Hawaiian shirts for himself and I'm upset. His shirts are really nice so I started looking but can't find any Disney Hawaiian shirt for women. :confused3 Anyone have any ideas where I might be able to find any for women.

I'm so excited. Working on FE gifts already. I know this year is going to go so fast. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see and meet everyone.

Tina, I hope you enjoyed your birthday yesterday.:cake:bday:

Bev:)

I'd buy one Val. I'm definitely a Disney Cruise Line Groupie!!! Tell Bob, Thank You for the great pictures as usual.
I got to spend today at California Adventure with my Grandson.
Let us know where you are having the shirts made because I'm sure you would get a lot of orders.

Maybe I will work on a design for us Groupies. Are all of you having problems getting on the boards this morning? It got a number of 'server busy' messages. Other sites seem to be ok so I don't think it is just an increase in overall web activity.

Loved the pictures of the Wonder - thanks for posting!

I can't believe we are less than a year away now! It will really be exciting to see what shore excursions they come up with!

We had shirts made for our last PC cruise, so I will have to find something for this cruise too!
