April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

I sent an email and also a letter and got about the same response. I hope if they get enough of our letters they will stop and think that maybe all of us have some good suggestions and will act on them. Time will tell.

Your coments are exactly why I suggested people write in, but not only once but a couple of times as this awesome voyage draws closer. To all the new people, welcome.

I can recommend the daily Walk A Mile with the Cruise Staff. I am also hoping that they are offering the Aqua Aerobics classes again that they did on the PC cruise this year. I never had such a good workout before.

I have been lucky in that I actually lost about 4kg on the WBTA and that was despite doing the Deluxe Dining Plan at WDW afterwards.
Corinna

It was actually the first time I've put on weight after a holiday - I suspect because we weren't doing the parks in Florida.

It wasn't a big deal, I lost it quickly once getting back home and starting my usual lifestyle again.

Whoops, forgot about the Tim Tams, do you know I brought 35 packets with me, OMG, that was a lot of precious luggage space, I'm glad it went to good use, padding peoples butts! :lmao:

We have a 5 day weekend here starting today, yippee, just started it with dinner out with friends (mexican), we have a planned easter egg hunt for the kids and friends kids tomorrow, and then BBQ's and boating for a few days.
Life's good :goodvibes

Yes with all that deck chair sitting, our butts needed extra padding for comfort :rotfl2:

Have a nice long weekend, we have just the 4 days (although many businesses have Tuesday as well).

I'm just heading out to Robert's Mum's - she wants to declutter her house :scared1:

We will be happy to seat ourselves on a chair on deck 4 and be your lap counters!! We did a fine job of that on the WBTA! :rotfl2:

We start with good intentions but alas those chairs are too appealing...

Harry and I would love to join you, but we think 10 pm is far too late for us geezers.:faint: :rotfl:

Beth and Harry

By the time we have coped with time zones, think 10 pm is do-able, but just look at time diffs UK, Florida, California, Hawaii and :confused3:confused3

Welcome on board. We did the first Med last year and had a fantastic time.

It's the little things people. I listened to both of my "Lilo and Stitch" soundtracks while driving to get groceries today. It's still over a year away, but I can't help it! (sigh)

I'm sure I will start to pull towards wearing colorful Hawaiian shirts and Muumuu's by the end of summer. Surely I'll need to try on several grass skirts and try out my Hula skills. Then I'll find myself trying to dig a hole in my backyard to roast something meaty, by the end of fall. As winter sets in, it will be lots of time staring at my tropical Xmas tree. Followed by the sculpting of several volcanoes and palm trees in the snow.

I'm sure by next spring, I will have full-blown DCL cruise fever, causing me to start piling suitcase items randomly around the house, use phrases like "it's on 2nd deck," when I'm referring to the location of a store in a 2-story mall, and then the cruise dreams will take over my sleep! Dreams that I always have where I can't find my stateroom, or I'm frustrated because I haven't done it all and I have to get off the ship before I've even had time to sit on 4th deck!!!!

Yes. Another cruise countdown has begun. And I love it!

At least everyone here understands. As, my extended family has just given up on asking "why another DISney cruise?" (don't forget the noses in the air)

And as far as weight gain goes, you can count me in! I will be walking 4th deck to work off a small percentage of the calories that I consume. How many calories are in a tiny chocolate volcano? (lava cake) Hhhhhmmmm, must research this. I might have to be a blue-chair lap-counter on some occasions though, only to help others out of course. :)

Better get ready for another round of parenting. My boys are waking up from nap. Happy Hawaii dreaming everyone!

I didn't see a answer for your question and I would like to know also. I only traditional scrapbook.

Scrapbooking exchange - If someone can figure out how to do a digital one and wants to run it, they are welcome! As for the one I volunteered to organize, it will be traditional paper.

Because people scrap in different sizes and it's a pain to try and carry 12 x 12 paper without damage, Here's the deal: Everyone who signs up picks a topic around which everyone participating is sure to want to make page(s) - in the past, i've seen fish extenders, pirates, sail away, food, palo, beach, characters, a port, etc.

Say we get 12 participants - each one makes (or buys) 12 sets of items to embellish her choice of page topic - the items could be title, die cut shapes, something stamped, any kind of embellishments. Then, she uses one set to make a sample page which she keeps for her own album but uses to show the rest of us, either the actual page, a photo of it, or sketch of her idea . I have some examples to post - when I find them:laughing:

On a sea day, we will all bring our 11 packets and 1 sample (or sketch or photo) maybe to the Cove Cafe, "show & tell" our sample, & swap packets - each one goes home with 12 DIFFERENT packets and a head start on 12 pages for her cruise album.

I had never heard of Tim Tams and had to look it up. Now I wish I didn't. :( :( They look soooooo yummy. Fot those that don't know, here is what I found.

Tim Tams are chocolate biscuits made by Arnott's Biscuits, Australia. A Tim Tam is composed of two layers of chocolate malted biscuit, separated by a light chocolate cream filling, and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate.

According to Arnott's, around 35 million packs are sold each year: nearly 400 million biscuits, an average of approximately 1.6 pcks per Zealander, 1.7 packs per Australian and 2.1 per New Caledonian.
OH TimTAMS! That diabolical invention of torment to a diabetic! You'd be proud of how strong I was on the PC. I received two lovely packets of them - and gave them away unopened to my "Mexican grandkids" in PV!

WOW! you're starting out with a BANG! 25 nights!!!!

Well to my immense surprise, I did get a reply from DCL today. It did not say a great deal, but it mentioned all the issues I raised so it could not have been a form letter. Essentially this letter could not have been written unless somebody read the my whole letter from start to finish. I call this a result. It did mention that my comments have been passed to the relevant managers.

Corinna

Good job, Corinna!

This is great!.. Exactly how I feel, only you did a great job putting it into words!.. Awesome!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

Good Friday here, and as LittleDisneyLovers mentioned - a 5 day long weekend - doesn't get better than that. We were supposed to go to the ILs 3 hours away, but they are quite sick, so we're staying home, which suits me, as I have a mountain of ironing from our trip, and also a heap of other things I never seem to have the time to do. We plan on doing a couple of full day outings and a couple of movies too. What bliss ! :cloud9:

It was DH's and my 19th wedding anniversary last night - so we got to spend dinner planning all our proposed future Disney trips. I told him he needs to "keep me in Disney" once every two years, and I'll be a happy wife (he muttered something about the upcoming trip being every year  )

Onto replies...

Corinna - thanks for the welcome - I hope to catch up with more people this time, so we're bound to meet up again. Glad you got a response to your letter. I wrote a two page hand-written letter and handed it in to Reception on the day of disembarkation, and to this day don't know if it was received by anyone.

Marilyn - I recognise you from the WDW to DL board, but didn't meet most of you on the PC trip. I didn't meet most of the board, actually.

Peggy - I mentioned Peyton's name to Christopher - he thinks he remembers him. He certainly remembers Max, but they have seen each other at Cub Scouts too. Here's a photo of him in his Friendship Rocks t-shirt...
frocks.jpg

Happy Goofy - thanks for the welcome, and congratulations to you two on 45 years for next year.

Linda - thanks for the welcome. We'll be sure to catch up on this cruise.

Brookyln - LOVE the design ! Well done !

Erica - welcome aboard :)

Charmaine - welcome aboard :)

LDL - good to have another Aussie aboard :) What are you going to do about your daughters and their schooling ? Are you just doing the cruise, or spending extra time in LA ?

Tina - there are now many variations on the original Tim Tam. There's the double coated Tim Tam, and the white chocolate Time Tam, and about 15 others to boot. Very dangerous when they're on sale ! ;)

Thekoeppens - welcome aboard :)

Scott - love a good honeycomb myself :)

Erica - I TOTALLY get it. I'll be in the same *ahem* boat as you in the lead-up.

That's it for replies, I think :) Off to start my "to-do" list. I can't wait until I go back to p/time work from the end of June - this f/time stuff means the poor house has been so neglected :(

GLORIOUS day here, too - next to no humidity, clouds, or wind, and a balmy 80-ish degrees. Bliss.

Oh ! Forgot to ask ! Are most of you just doing the cruise, or are you adding on days at DL / somewhere else ? We will be doing a stop-over in Hawaii on the way over (we bought DVC on the last trip), and we also want to spend time at DL. My only concern is that we want to do it pre-cruise - will the place be inundated with "Spring-breakers", or will it be over by this time next year ?

Have a great Easter.

Cheers,
Sally :)

I think spring break will be earlier next year...spring break will be in march or center around easter, which is april 8th next year...should be good by end of april...i will be subscribing to touring plans for disneyland and will let you know the crowd level when it comes out...welcome :)

My daughter took a group from our church when the Pope held World Youth Day there and she brought home some TimTams . They were great.

To the Koeppens- we did that 25 day BTB last year. It was WONDERFUL-- Have a great time.

Are the bags Disney or cruise themed - maybe someone could make some for Fish Gifts? I can see some cool art work coming up (pun intended)... Hawaii ideas "Heaving to Hawaii", "Hurling in Hilo" or "Barfing with Belle", "Puking with Pluto", "Spewing with Stitch"....:rotfl2:
