Sounds sweet... lol
Tell us what you think. Maybe we can start a book club.

I have also have Caribbean & Panama Canal by Cruise Ship (2 different books), by the same author and love them. I've done 3 DCL Panama cruises and still refer back to the book for information. There is also a pull out map in the back of the book.

Thanks.. I'm going to head to the book store and join you. I'm looking forward to a good read and dreaming of what's to come.

Hi everyone. I did get some prices for a pre-cruise stay. I asked prices for 2 nights 4/27 - 4/29/12 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach and the Doubletree in San Pedro. The group rates are as follows and do not include tax:

Hyatt
$189 single or double occupancy
$13.95 Continental breakfast
$17.95 Breakfast buffet
No transportation from airport. Recommends using Super Shuttle $17.00 per person. Also available is Yellow Cab

DoubleTree
$149 single occupancy
$159 double occupancy
$13.95 breakfast buffer
Shuttle service to the cruise terminal
Complimentary transportation with 5 miles

For those driving to the hotel and leaving your car there:
$189 for your room
Includes 2 breakfast buffets and 2 drink coupons

I am holding group space at both hotels so please let me know if you want to be included at either hotel.

I don't mind looking into other hotels. I'm easy.

You make your own ressies for Palo, excursions, etc. You just can't make any changes to the actually reservation yourself, i.e. add a person, change to another cat. You also make your payments thru the TA. DU has been wonderful working for us. This booking I slept in, woke to check my messages and had a cabin. :goodvibes TA called me, we talked and she arranged to move us to a sideways CAT 11. Plus they give me extra OBC AND they sponsor this board which has brought many wonderful people into our lives. :lovestruc

Do you know if DU allows you to pay for your cruise using Disney Gift cards? The Disney website does and I can get some other advantages if I buy gift cards and use them to pay for the cruise.

Thanks.. I'm going to head to the book store and join you. I'm looking forward to a good read and dreaming of what's to come.

Don't forget if you are a Border's member there are coupons. I had the non-paying membership and saved 33% off, while there decided to join the membership. It'll pay for itself in a few weeks.

i dont know about disney gift cards, i know they take the rewards cards from disney visa.......i will have to look this one up....

My TA didn't have any problems using the gift card. I kept control of my reservation until right before final payment. I like just logging in to make payments myself, before I have a chance to spend it on something else.

Hello all....cannot believe my DW and I will be going on this cruise and it is amazing on how many WBTA cruisers are on this cruise also....so I have a couple of questions and please forgive me if it has been asked and answered already on this thread.....we booked the first day last week and we usually always book our next cruise on the ship--10% and onboard credit. We will be sailing on the Dream on May 5th--do not expect any category 11 staterooms to be available when we cruise and the price has gone up already so getting the 10% is probably finished. Since we are on the ship will they give us the onboard credit(which I have no idea what it is for the 15 night) since we are on the ship? If they will not, I did read that if you transfer your reservation to Dreams Unlimited they offer an onboard credit....so please if you have info please let me know.

My DW and I will be interested in joining many of you if you plan on setting up some excursions in Hawaii.....never been there before although my wife has.....

Thanks all.....looking forward to this beautiful cruise.
Tom & Marilou

You guys might want to take a look at the Cruise Critic boards. They have it broken down into the different ports and some people review the various tours that they took or were available for them. Here is the link if anyone is interested : http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=62

Dale

Thanks ! :thumbsup2

I want to go to the Arizona. After doing a little research, looks Luke if you take a tour you are going to get over. If you walk up it is first come first serve. I may be off on this, but that was my impression. I want to do thus so badly I can't even really put it into words. I also really want to go to Volcano park. I want to go into a lava tube.

My friend who booked yesterday was on next years Thanksgiving cruise. I believe his name is photocjr.

I am wondering if it might be easier to go through DCL and by doing the tour you might not have to wait in line ? I am interested in seeing what they come up with. I did look up and found people start lining up at 7:30 and that's when we dock. I am on the Fantasy Thanksgiving cruise. Hope your friend can make this cruise.

I love hearing about all of you who are planning on doing vow renewals. Sp sweet! I say do it...take it from me, we are not always guaranteed tomorrow with the love of our lives. I only got 14 years with mine, married for 7 1/2 of those. I miss my Dh terribly.

I love HAWAII and cannot wait for this cruise. I have been to Maui twice and Kauai once, both with small children. Dh and I went to Oahu about 15 years ago. We stayed about 5 days in Waikiki and then stayed another 5 days in North Shore. I loved shopping in the outdoor shopping areas near Waikiki. I look forward to exploring here and seeing how different it is from 15years ago. LOL Once I booked this trip I had to go back and look through my Hawaii pics. I don't have any from Ohau on this cpu, but here are some from Kauai in 2007 and Maui just last August. Since we have always had our kids with us (with the excpetion of Oahu,) we never got out to do the more adventurous activities. I will be doing the more adventurous ones (hopefully) on the cruise for both me and Dh.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures.

My friend moved his Thanksgiving reservation to this cruise, so he will not be on the Fantasy. As far as I can tell. Cruise tours and the like do not wait in line and are guaranteed admission.

As much as I love my computer, I still love the feel & look of a real book. So I went and bought a new one today.

"Hawaii by Cruise Ship" by Anne Vipond!!

Porch swing, sweet tea & new book...woohoo!:cloud9:

I bought this off of amazon a few days ago, only $13.57!!! It is going to arrive tomorrow!

I wish I had known a neighbor was cruising before I booked. I have one extra kid and due to that I am having to buy an entire extra room we will not even use! Still cheaper than the family suite though! I just needed him stuck on someones paper work. Do you all plan to fly out? At this time we are even considering a drive out to L.A. Whatever we can do for less $ works for us. Believe it or not I've never been to Dick's Last Resort.

Do you mind if I ask who you booked through and what kind of kickback they offered? I booked myself through Disney but plan to switch it to the TA who has the best $ back offer. I read that AAA is giving up to $300 per cabin.

Although DH isn't joining me I am rooming with a friend. It's all good.:goodvibes I am going to fly for sure ! I couldn't imagine that drive.:scared1: We drove last May from here to Miami for a cruise and it was a longggg drive. I don't think I could do that again. I have only heard about Dicks last resort. I haven't been there either. I am having my friend contact you.:)

So sorry about your husband. I lost mine this past August. We would have been married 34 years in October. We were supposed to go to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary, but his mom had a serious stroke and passed away so we had to cancel. I am traveling solo on this trip and so it will be bittersweet since he won't be here to enjoy it with me. But I have some good friends on this cruise and hope to make many more. Looking forward to meeting you on the ship.

 I am so sorry for your loss. I am also solo on this trip. I think we have about 100 of a newest best friends traveling with us.:goodvibes

I JUST BOOKED THIS CRUISE! :cheer2: :cool1:

...now to catch up on all the posts..it will be me, Janice and my DS Trevor

Hi Janice, Welcome Aboard !

Aloha to all of you out there... We are looking forward to meeting the new and old friends we have with us. :grouphug: I moved our Fantasy 06/23/12 rese. Now, we are in a cat 07A Navigator's Verandah. This is a new cat for us. We usually stay in a cat 05B mid ship. I'm really nerves to be in a cat 07A aft. I hope there isn't a lot of motion. Either way, we are happy to be sailing with y'all to a fantastic location.

Welcome Aboard !

does anyone who has done a long cruise remember how much rainforest pass would be for 15 night sailing??:rolleyes1

:thumbsup2
I loved the Thurston Lava tube. Here are a couple of links for those who have not heard of it before.

Thurston Lava Tube 2

For those of you that want to go to Iolani Palace, it is open that particular Sunday (for now, like DCL, it's subject to change). First Sundays are free to local residents but visitors may also pay the regular rate to enter. It doesn't say whether or not you need to be entering with a local resident:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaka_sign

The shaka sign is a common greeting gesture. It is often associated with Hawai'i. It consists of extending the thumb and smallest finger while keeping the three middle fingers curled, and raising the hand as in salutation with the back of the hand facing the person that is being greeted; sometimes the hand is rotated back and forth to emphasize the sign.

You can search on youtube to see it in action. It's easiest to plug in "Obama" and "shaka" to get the right results.

Thanks so much for your wealth of information.:thumbsup2

I am there with you. In just a short period of time we already have 49 pages to read. Sitting down with a cup of Alice in Wonderland English Tea from WDW, Disney music and my computer.

That's a good way to Dis.:thumbsup2

That's what my thinking is. That might be the only thing I book through DCL.

Sorry I don't know but that does sound nice.

Everytime I post I am getting kicked off.:mad:I am done for the night. Have a good night everyone.

Rainforest's Pass for 15 nights sounds amazing. :goodvibes I was on the 14 day Transatlantic in 2007 so I don't remember how much it cost. I hope we find the answer. Relaxation is what I need right now!!!

So instead of doing the Eastern Carribean in Feb. we will now be joining all of you on this "Wonder"- ful cruise to Hawaii!!!

Traveling will be me (Annette, 42 at time of sailing) and my Dsis (Amanda, 43). Since this cruise is in between my and Amanda's bday, we will be celebrating both on the ship. My bday is 2/3 and her's is 6/22. We love the Wonder!

Our last cruise was March 10, 2011 for 3 nights on the Dream and before that is was the 14 night WBTA.

I gotta to start reading since this thread is already over 50 pages long!

Annette :)
