:cool1:

We just managed to book, well, I better clarify. I just booked, Candida (DW) doesn't know yet. Think I might wait until Christmas to tell her. So, any of her FB friends please don't tell her. So many familiar names and faces. It will be good to see you all again.

Once I tell her then we'll join the FB group. I would now but she uses my account to play a bunch of games. She doesn't venture onto DIS much so this is a Candida free zone :goodvibes

For those that we don't know I am Jon and as mentioned my DW is Candida. We are from southern Ontario, Canada. This will be our 5th DCL cruise. Our 4th is the MV Fantasy so, April will be busy for us.

Jon

Oh my goodness!!! Yay!! It will be very nice to sail with you two again. I know Dennis will enjoy some more camera talk with Candida. :thumbsup2

I really fancy staying here for the 2 nights pre cruise so thanks for the info about the free shuttle to tourist area. How did you get to your cruise? All I can think of with this cruise are all the transfers that are involved.:rotfl2: Airport to pre cruise hotel, pre cruise hotel to the Wonder. Wonder to post cruise hotel, post cruise hotel to Airport or car rental place. Goodness me!:lmao:

We took Super Shuttle from airport to front door Queen Mary ..17 dollars each. Not sure of price to Disney Pier..but quoted a 20 dollar cab fare .You can prebook..or just walk out and Super Shuttle puts you in next van heading there. The hotel is at Port of Long Beach so lots of transportation. The Carnival ships dock right smack beside the hotel & the shuttle is across the hotel parking lot.

Tina...I warned you NOT to open the Cricut box!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Glad you are enjoying your new toy....now you need all the Disney cartridges...just an FYI...do not buy from CricutMachine.com....I made 2 purcahses from them...after the second one my credit card was compromised...

Part of me is glad I didn't listen to you.;) I already have a tracking number and should get my Luau cartridge this Saturday !!! Thanks for the warning about CircutMachine ! I only have 2 Disney- Mickey Font & Mickey & friends. I won't be buying anymore.........need to save some money for this cruise.:rolleyes1

I have been to Hawaii too many times to count. But the book(s) I rely on and swear by are by Andrew Doughty. His books are called Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guide; Oahu Revealed: The Ultimate Guide, etc. ,etc., for each island.

In his books he has the whole island charted out and has diamonds next to certain things "called real gems" I think of things you definitely don't want to miss, even down to the local shrimp stand on Oahu!

Anyway, I take these books with me everytime I go over. They are wonderful and I swear by them. Have loaned them over the years to many friends who have gone on trips over there and they have said they have been very worthwhile.

My two cents worth....with inflation, probably about ten cents now!

Thanks !

:scratchin Wonder what I'll look like? I'm driving "very" local (30 min).

That's not loaded down, you should see our luggage even traveling light. :faint:

What I'm wondering is what I'll look like coming off the ship. Figured all you need is flippahs, swimsuits, and lots of suntan lotion. Oh and maybe a sweater or two which you can always pick up onboard at one of the stops. LOL, sorry folks, didn't mean to but in but I forget to post on here and then I see some familar faces I just excited all over again.

:thumbsup2

I too am worring about luggage. We have been spoiled living 5 minutes from Port Canaveral. When we did the 25 days EBTA and Med I did not worry about how much I brought on board but it was a rude awaking when we flew home from Barcelona and we had to pay for two extra suitcases.
Now we have to fly both ways and we are waiting for SW to open up. At least we can bring two suitcases each and probably might have to pay for an extra coming back- depending on what we buy.

Same here ! When we did the EBPC we shipped a box ahead to hotel. Coming home we ended up buying luggage on board :eek:and rented a van to drive back. I am hoping SW opens soon to check out prices. SW is 2 hours away for me but might be worth it just to take 2 suitcases without having to pay a fee. At first I told DH I could just take 1 suitcase and a carry on. He laughed and I realized no way could I just bring one suitcase.

I just bought 2 new cartridges yesterday, the Luau is on sale at JoAnn's this week for $19.99 and for once they had what I wanted in stock. Then I went to a Ben Franklin who had the Disney Toy Story cartridge on sale - still $45- ouch more than I usually am willing to pay. On the Inaugural Alaska cruise we took a small bobble head alien -a toy story character - wearing a Goofy hat and took his picture at everything we did (like taking a Duffy bear only much smaller). I have over 4 dozen pictures to scrap with alien and only 2 stickers are available for embellishment :confused3 so we broke down and bought the cartridge. After spending that much on the cartridge I am sure alien and his Goofy hat will be sailing to Hawaii also:). Have done over 60 pages for Alaska scrapbook and am not half way yet, this may take all summer! By the way, if you like Pooh Bear, despite saving money, you might want to watch at your chain scrapbook stores because my JoAnns and Michaels have put them on clearance this summer so I think they may be discontinued.

I don't think the fares will be out till Sept/Oct on SW. We are going to US ports you can go to UPS store or post office and sned it back home too.

That is us too.:dance3: We are on this year's TA too as we loved it so much.

We would have liked to done the TA this year but I do annual training at that time of year. Since, I missed the training in 2010 it wouldn't have been good for me to miss this years.

Welcome Jon! I am on this cruise sans John as we are doing the MV of the Fantasy. I will be traveling with my close friend Nancy!!

Hi, Noel. We'll get to see John on the Fantasy then.

Awesome! Trevor will be excited (me too)

Janice

Hi Janice. Now we will have 15 days to visit with each other instead of just a couple hours in Alaska. :thumbsup2

Welcome on board, Jon. It will be great to see Candida and you again. At least I know I will have company in those character lines ;)

Corinna

Hi Corinna, the character lines are must for Candida. We did the Alaskan in May and a couple of the CM from the WBTA recognized us from the greetings.

Welcome Jon (& Candida, even though she doesn't know yet!!!!)....looks like we'll be cruisin' together a lot next year....maiden voyage of the Fantasy and then Hawaii!!!!!

I'd never be able to keep a secret that long...it was hard enough keeping the maiden voyage of the Fantasy from my Mom for 6 weeks....

Hi, Elaine, thanks. We should try to get together for a precruise meet. Between these two cruises there are a few names from the southern Ontario area. As for the secret, Candida's birthday is in August so if I am having a hard time I'll tell her then. If not I will have to hold out until Christmas.

Oh my goodness!!! Yay!! It will be very nice to sail with you two again. I know Dennis will enjoy some more camera talk with Candida. :thumbsup2

Hi Angie, we'll have to schedule their discussions so we end up in the cafe. So that we can just pull up a couple chairs will they talk camera.

It will be great to see everyone again:hug:

Jon

Oh, have some of the staff from the Magic moved across to the Wonder? When we did the Panama Canal Cruise in January, the only person that I knew from the Magic who was on that cruise was Clayton (Assistant Cruise Director).

I am trying to make up my mind whether or not to get the CD on our Mexican Riviera cruise. I was thinking if I can at least get 100 photos, I will go for it.

We don't have Joann's here but I could have ordered it on line. It was a little bit more through Cricut but I am still happy to get it.:) That sounds really cute ! For my repo cruise I used 4 12x12 books. I am sure to use that many for this cruise. I just finished a scrapbook from my Dec. wonder cruise and only used one 12x12 book. I think it was 20 some pages. It was only a 4 day cruise and I am getting more picky on what pics. to use since I have close to 20 scrapbooks from Disney cruises.:rolleyes1 It's hard getting those different shots.;)

Judy...would love to see pics of your scrapbook pages....we were on the Inaugural Alaskan cruise as well as the Repo before....I took over 5,000 photos and am having a hard time selecting the photos to print for my scrapbook.

Would love to see some of your Alien Goofy pics too...I took a little stuffed Mickey with us and on Tracy Arm day, I was up on deck taking a picture of Mickey with the Glacier behind him and I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to find the real Mickey in his Alaskan wear....he was pointing to my little Mickey and laughing...We also had (and have now relaced) a Dory from Finding Nemo and she cruised on the 2005 Panama Canal cruise and many trips to WDW and lots of cruises since 2005 but she had an unfortunate accident with some salt water not too long ago so was unable to cruise to visit Disneyland, Alcatraz and Alaska....I was so happy to be able to find a replacement on eBay when we got home...so she will joining us on this Hawaii cruise...however Mickey is upset...so he might be coming along as well!!!!!!

Sounds like a plan....let us know when you tell Candida....then we can plan something.

Apologies that I am still not checkin in nearly often enough - since most of my family is on Facebook that tends to be where I spend time keeping in touch,
Firstly welcome to all the new fellow travelers. Hoping to get to know everyone a little better via the DisBoards and then in person on the ship.
I'm will be co-ordinating the Stateroom tours and Pre-cruise meets and will get a spreadsheet up ASAP and post the link. If anyone would like to help me I'd appreciate the assistance.
This will be our first cruise not having to worry about luggage and pre an/or post cruise hotels - thank goodness.
This will also be our first cruise as a couple since our DD at this stage is not planning on cruising with us due to work related commitments.
Will try not to lurk too much and post more often.

I don't post much, but am excited cause I booked our flights! No backing out now. Prices looked grim, but I checked back at Delta this morning and was thrilled to find great prices from our little local airport in coastal NC to LAX and back. No red eye flights either! Bigger plus, I got exit rows with great leg room on both long flights, with no up charge! I am so glad this is done. Now, need one night post cruise hotel . . .

No apologies needed. I am happy for all the people in CA who don't have to deal with luggage, hotel or time zona difference !!

Congrats on the flights ! I imagine you have the same problem I do coming from Myrtle Beach. I was looking at flights today and NOTHING looked good. I really hope I can get something from SW through Charleston.

For those of you that booked the Doubletree, did you use the non-refundable on line price ? Is there a group discount ? I believe Bev was working on a discount. I am looking to book my room over the weekend. Thanks !!

When we flew back from Barcelona we looked into shipping something back through UPS and it was just about the same as paying for the extra luggage with Delta so we decided to take it on the plane with us.
