Good Morning Cruisers!

I agree with those who say to visit DL, especially if you have not been there (or some of your party have not been there).

Guess we need to maybe set up a meet at the port for those of us going straight there!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's on the thread!

**MUST SEE ADVICE NEEDED**

I can see from this thread that there are a few people who have already visited Hawaii and this being my first time (and maybe my only time to visit), I was wondering, what are the must sees in each port. I am trying to research each port and I would like to have an idea of what I want to do when DCL releases the excursions for our cruise.

Thanks in advance

I fancy the Queen Mary for the night before the cruise, but we will probably have 2 nights pre cruise. would the Queen Mary be a sensible place for 2 nights?

We will go to DL afterwards!!!:dance3: Still trying to work out what to do around that 20/21 days as we want to be over for 6-8 weeks again to make the cost of the flights worth while. Might go to Orlando for a week or so first and fly over to LA. Ah, what a lot of decisions.

Rent a car and tour the West! :thumbsup2

We have never been to DL, we are frequent WDW visitors, and are going there this October. I am taking my Mom on this Cruise, and she has never been to WDW or DL, so thinking we might need to take her. There is something about walking into the park and seeing the castle... :cloud9:. Does anyone know the price differences in a good neighbor DL package, and the DL resort packages?

The price difference can be significant. There are several levels of good neighbor hotels. I use getawaytoday dot com for DL packages. Take a look at their site and you can at least get an idea of the packages available.

I have also used Priceline name your own price for 3 star hotels in the Disneyland area and gotten Hilton, Crowne Plaza, etc for as little as $45 up to $65 a night.

Currently we have reservations at Candy Cane Inn and the Double Tree by the port. The Queen Mary interests me. If we stay at CCI it will require to shuttle rides one to get there and one to the pier which will pay for a diner. Still up in the air where to stay.

We will be at the Doubletree at the port before the cruise, anyone else staying there? We will do our DL trip after the cruise (to hit weekdays instead of the weekend).

Cayla - yes, Scott is loving retirement!!!

Hi Lynn, we'll be at the Doubletree at the port for one night before the cruise. Want to meet for drinks? Anyone else staying there the night before? We can have our own mini-meet.

We're there! We loved it when we stayed there before the repo/Alaska cruise.
When are you getting there?

YEAH!!!!!!! Gydell.....let's have a party!!!!!!

We're arriving one day before boarding in the afternoon.

I have a room held here at the moment....only reason I can see to give this up would be if by some miracle, I was able to get to go to Club 33....I would then stay at DL (duh!) :lmao:

Well, if you don't go to Club 33.....join us for a pre-cruise mini-meet. YEAH!!!!!

I really feel SO BAD for you Marilyn....it's tough deciding what to do for 8 whole weeks of vacation.....hahaha.

I'm so happy we get to share this cruise together. I'm looking forward to it.

Yes, it should be a wonderful cruise. And, we are very blessed to get away for so long. This trip mind you is still not set in stone, but as time goes on it seems more promising.

Elaine, all the ports are great. These are what stands out most in my memory from visiting there.
Hilo, Hawaii has the Volcano National Park. Walked on the lava flows. Cooled of course.
Kahului, Maui has the Haleakala Volcano. This is where we did the downhill bike ride. There were sugar cane fields and refineries, but I have heard they are gone.
Honolulu, Oahu has Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head. Probably the most touristy. This is where we saw the Dole Plantation.
Have not been to Kauai, so I can't really say, but heard it is beautiful. Like the others.

Been doing a lot of thinking about what to see. Still thinking. Wanna do Dukes on Sunday.:goodvibes

Little sister did tell DBIL about booking this cruise for his birthday next year. Not only is he happy (I wasn't sure he would be) he wants a verandah! So, note made with her travel agent...wish them luck on one opening up (and a small windfall to cover the $ jump from a Cat 11)!

Oh! And we have friends that want her CAT 11 should that happen. Same TA I believe!

Hi everyone,
Apologies I just don't seem to make it to the DisBoards much but will try to check then more often. I have quite a few pages of posts to read over to try and catch up on what I've missed.
I've sent lanyard requests - Thank you so much Erik & Jason :thanks:
Not sure if anyone has taken on organizing the Room Tours. If not, I'll be more than happy to.
We'd love to be included in the pre-cruise drink/s etc. the evening before. Again if no one is organizing this I'd be happy to organize it.
party:party:

Here is the unofficial list of activities I have read board members are taking responsibility for organizing. I have added your name to the pre-cruise meets and room tour. I have read a number of ideas and offers for pre-cruise meets so maybe you could keep us on track for those meetings being planned in Southern California in the days just prior to the cruise, where, when, who etc. Thanks.

-------------------------HAVEN'T POSTED AN UPDATE IN A WHILE SOOOO----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a list of the DISboard activities and their organizers. If I have missed any, or have any of the information incorrect, please advise.

I have also listed past activities that we may wish to include. If you would like to be an organizer for one of these let me know. If you don't want to be assigned as organizer but REALLY hope someone else takes it on, let us know that too.
