April 26, 2013 8 night Magic out of Galveston

:thumbsup2 Great idea!

Would you please post on FB a request for a 4A or 4B on the tour? I'd really like to be able to show one to my sister to see if she is willing to join us on our Alaska cruise.

Thanks so much!

I made the request! Hopefully we will get a 4A/4B room. We have a pretty good variety so far.

We are in a 4B. I've been hesitant to join because we have three year old twins and I'm sure our cabin will look like a tornado came through at any given time but if no one else joins in that category we will try our best to clear a path!

:grouphug: That's very kind! I did have another person that wasn't interested in the tour tell me I could see their room if no one else joins the group. But I really don't want to put anyone out, so let's play it by ear. Worst case scenario, I'm sure we'll see at least one walking down the hall. ;) Regardless of whether you volunteer your cabin, if you are interested in the tour I think you should join. Just put on your comments that you would rather not use your room if there is another option.

Hi!

Looking to share a cab ride to the Enterprise Car Rental in Galveston the day we get back. Any takers? I started looking for taxi cab phone numbers to see if i should call them beforehand and have them waiting there for me. Anybody do this before?

Thanks! Can't wait!!!

There is a late comers portion of the FE sign up group that you can join. Welcome to the cruise!

I too am completely new to all of this! We are booked on the Magic April 26th and it's our very first cruise! I just found out about the FEs. How can I get signed up too? Is there a FB page I should also join?

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth. I've been crazy tired recently and not keeping up with much of anything. Praying they can properly adjust my thyroid meds before this cruise.

For those coming in the day before, where is everyone staying?
What hotels are recommended?

Kathie McNamee I would recommend Galvez, Tremont or Harbor House -- check the bed bug report before you book!!!

Jenny Trahan We stayed at the Harbor House in Feb & are staying there again. For the price it is convenient but it is due for remodeling in the fall and so is not as nice as some of the others mentioned. We have also stayed at the Hilton but we have our own car to get to the port.

Melany Laliberte Moss We love Guidos/ Casey's! I never miss it when in Galveston! The Galvez is nice. I haven't stayed at the others mentioned. The Galvez is on Priceline if you're feeling a little risky.

Kathie McNamee We booked the Disney transportation (even though we live local) from IAH -- $60 pp round trip -- they take your luggage then and deliver it to your room, that alone seemed worth the cost . They pick you up in baggage claim area

Carolyn Hatton disney won't let us book their ground transport if we are coming the day before, unless we stay at the Galvez. We had already booked the Tremont on Priceline. Plus they wanted $400 for the hotel & transport for 2 adults and 2 kids. Seems steep.

Kathie McNamee YIKES! That is steep!!! I think there is the "super shuttle" that transports to Galveston.. http://www.supershuttle.com/Locations/IAHAirportShuttleHouston.aspx

Melissa Oestreich-Shelby We love Moody Gardens! If you are coming a little early it is worth the money to stay there and play in the pool, visit the aquarium, etc...We live in a Houston suburb and we still stay at Moody Gardens every summer! We love to eat at the The Spot in Galveston, if it's not too crowded. This is a splurge meal (calorie wise) and their fried shrimp platters and other "platters" are huge! If you have time take the family to La King's Confectionary on the strand. Of course if you have kids there is always Rainforest Cafe as well.

Christine Klatt Carolyn~ I've search for awhile now and that is the price I've found. We will probably do a town car for the $155 to drive us to Hotel Galvez. We are using Disney transportation back from the cruise since for our family of 3 that is the cheapest. ($90) I also booked the hotel on our own for less that $100 which was much cheaper than Disney's rate.

Thanks for the FB update.

We just signed up for the boards and this is our first Disney cruise! So I guess we need to sign up for the late comers FE. What else are we behind on?

We are having a meet and greet first day we bored at 3:00pm in promanode lounge. Wear a green lia so we know who you are. And there is a sign up for a cabin tour. And we are trying to organize a happy hour for our group. If you can go to page 12 of this thread and I believe the face book link is there. Don't quote me this. There's a ton of info on the fb page. Oh and welcome aboard
