Ron (38) Not a Disney Nut, and Shannon (37) started our second day in heavenly Disneyland with a free breakfast from our concierge lounge. It was a nice day to begin our adventure.
Upon entering California Adventure, we were assaulted by the same smell previously reported: burnt popcorn! Well, Ron and I had previously gone on a Backstage Tour in Disney World, and we knew that ALL those wonderful smells are piped in to entice us to enter the various stores. So, what was up with the burnt popcorn? We had to know, so we asked at Guest Relations. Guess what - the first week of using their "smell pumpers", they spilled the chemical stuff on the engine, and it is burning. They keep pumping it out, because they are hoping to burn the smell off! So, for the time being, we are stuck with that nasty smell! We actually saw black smoke coming out of the vents along the corridors!
While at Guest Relations, we bought tickets for the Eureka Parade viewing. I had learned about this before going to Disneyland, from Janet, in our concierge pre-visit call. This is similar to the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet, but better! For $41.00, you can buy tickets for a special balcony to watch the Eureka Parade. While there, instead of just desserts, you get: (all-you-can-eat) soup, shrimp cocktail, appetizers (quiches & meat pastries), desserts, and WINE!! Since no one knows about this yet, you don't have to get in line at the crack of dawn. We wandered in about 9:30 AM, and bought our tickets. When we got there that night, we were the only two tickets sold. So, we had two servers for the two of us!! Now, the parade isn't nearly as neat as Fantasmic, but the food you get is worth the $41.00, I thought!
We ran to Soarin over California, and got Fastpasses, and then rode. It is as cool as everyone reported. I did Screamin, but Ron wouldn't go. It is sooo smooth - maybe even smoother than Rockin Rollercoaster. We kind of poked around the park, trying to do everything in a leisurely manner. Since we have hoppers, our plan is to go back and forth several times a day. I was too scared to go on Maliboomer, but I am determined to go on it before leaving. My stomach gets upset just thinking about it, but I have to do it!!
Since I have nothing new to add at this time, I will sign off. I am kind of compacting my reports to new impressions or ideas, but feel free to ask about anything!! I just don't want to bore you!!
Tomorrow, my Mickey signature secret!!
