What airfare is anyone getting for April 6-13, flying out of *any* of the three Washington area airports (DCA, BWI, IAD) & into MCO? I'm willing to try an open-jaw, going down: flying from DC & into Tampa perhaps & then returning: out of MCO & into one of the DC airports...

See, yesterday I just *happened* to check AP rates for that general timeframe and got $110/night at Port Orleans/Riverside :teeth: , so we are thinking about a Spring Break (oh, the horrors!) trip. The best I can find for our week is about $250/$300. The dates aren't absolutely firm, but DD does have April 7th off from school plus that whole next week. I know that it is probably too late to snag any DINGs on Southwest, but I went ahead and downloaded the software anyway (love that new cable modem :goodvibes , the down load went *so* fast!)
I miss Independence Air :guilty: & sure wish that JetBlue flew from Dulles into Orlando. Fort Lauderdate is just a bit too far to commute...

There were Baltimore-Orlando dings on 1/31 & 2/2 for less than $40 each way. Isn't BWI Baltimore? I'm not sure what dates were available but travel was 3/1 - 6/9. Don't give up hope. :)

I think your big problem is the Easter Holiday, but you have at least picked dates that aren't the big days.

I just checked SW and they have $226 with taxes round trip. That might not be too bad for your days. The 6th is showing lots of the cheap fares sold out which may lessen the chances of a Ding!

Ack, I just missed them! I thought so, but wasn't sure...ackackack.

I actually would prefer to fly out of DCA, as it is only about 20 minutes from our house *tops*plus it doesn't have those aggravating 'mobile lounges' but BWI & IAD are certainly both doable. I must confess, I *am* getting heartily sick and tired of all the construction inside Dulles. We just flew into there this past week. The hallways (from where the mobile lounges let you off on arrival) look really BAD(lots of flimsy plywood), and are stupidly set-up. You have to go up and down a single flight of stairs quite a number of times.

I've been watching fares out of BWI/DCA/IAD for months now . . . I'm flying 4/9 returning 4/14. I want non-stop flights only and want to fly into MCO (otherwise cost of car rental offsets any savings).

Best I've found: Southwest - on the way down we've gotten a special fare of $125 (not sure if that's still available), way back we're paying full freight of $184, for a total of $309 RT. That's crazy, given that we normally pay in the vicinity of $170 - $220 RT. But oh well. I've seen slightly lower fares, but for "off" times (arriving around midnight, or departing at 8:00 am, etc.)

I've also been watching for SW dings from BWI - MCO and have seen a bunch come and go - none available for the days I need.

Hope that helps.

mdmom2004 -

Maybe we should start a Misery Loves Company club ;) ...I'll keep an eye open for any low fares for our timeframe and post them here or send you a PM.

happy fare hunting everyone!

Hi Aggie. The only nonstop you're going to get from DCA is on US Airways and they most likely aren't going to lower their fares for April. If you want spring break flights that don't cost a fortune you have to book them early. If Airtran flies out of there it won't be a nonstop. I don't know about you, but I hate turning a 2 hour flight into a 5 hour flight.

You just missed 2 Dings for that time period...maybe there will be more. I didn't look at them for April but availability is going to be difficult to come by. Spring break and New Years Eve are the only times of the year I will not go to WDW.

We are flying out of BWI in Apr. We got $180 rt on AirTran. Have you checked into them? Good luck and have a great trip!!

I looked up your dates out of Washington Dulles and they have the 6:30am out with 1 stop that arrives Orlando at 10:40am.And on the way back there's a Non-stop flight that leaves Orlando at 10am and gets into Wash.Dulles at 12:10pm...All for $202.90 RT PP-Includes all taxes and fees!
Sounds great to me!

The fares mentioned here are very good. We were planning a trip down there then out of the Washington area, and I wasn't having any luck with decent fares (this was a few weeks ago). I gave up, and we're now going in May (taking DS out of school). I'd grab that last one if I were you. I seriously doubt there's going to be a good DING.

Debbie -

We aren't going to pull DD out of school this time, so an early morning departure on that Thursday(April 6) won't work :guilty: . What airline were you looking at - United?

thanks,
agnes!

Agnes,That was Air Tran that I was looking at...Hope you were able to find something! I should have posted what Airline it was, sorry. If you leave out on the 7th instead you can get the same times with the same airfare.
Good Luck.I know how hard it is to find something that coincides with your families schedule.
Debbie

Keep checking. We are playing $168 RT on Air Tran from BWI. Sign up for their newsletter and also watch Dings. I think April is a peak month.
