Appropriate age for Hannah Montana Concert?

I'm a bit... put out. Heh.

I am very very excited because I managed to snag two HM tickets in January for my daughter's 8th birthday. She's going to be so excited and that- that makes me pretty happy :)

But I had someone comment to me that taking kids to a concert is 'pushing their maturity' and that kids should like 'simpler things'.

I remember being a kid. Although I WISH it were yesterday, time is slipping away. I went to see 'New Kids on the Block' in the 4th grade (yes, we can all say EWWWW now- but they were the big thing then)- I could see making that comment about NKOTB or maybe a boy band kinda thing, but about Hannah Montana?

For those of you who like HM- what age do you think it's appropriate to take your child to a HM concert?

I took my 10 year old son to it and we had tons of fun. There were kids all different ages there, I think younger than 8 may be a bit to young, but I think 8 is perfectly fine. Go and have fun!

It's not like you are taking her to an ACDC or Grateful Dead concert. Jesh!

I saw dozens of 5yr olds at the concert and knew of a few others at different located concerts. Then ages ranged all the way up to high schoolers. I took my 8yr old for her birthday and found it very age appropriate. I would guess that the average ages there were 8-12.

I just took my 6 year old to the concert. I saw many young girls there with their folks and they were having a great time!! Hannah Montana is a positive role model for young girls, and I see nothing wrong with supervised young girls going to the concert.

my DD(12) was at her first concert at 8 (Brittney Spears, b4 she was a slut,LOL!!!) Since then she`s been to plenty, American Idol, Cheetah girls, HSM, Fall out Boy and Avril lavergine. We also have tickets to Hannah in Atlantic City (not the best seats!) Just be prepared they get costly!!!! Between food and drinks and a concert shirt you can go broke!

My boys were at their first concert at ages 5 and 7...it was NSYNC and they were in the very front row of Giants Stadium (thanks to a connection) with a whole slew of their friends (and moms). We laughed about how it took 40 years for us to get front row concert seats....and how they have no clue how this will be the best seats they willl ever have!!! They have been to lots of shows since and love concerts as much as their crazy mom!

First of all, it isn't like this is a Rolling Stones or Brittney Spear-Me-In-The-Head-So-I-Don't-Have-To-Listen-To-This concert. This is Hannah Montana, and she's bubble gum sweet!

Also, she'll remember it forever. You'll both have a great time.

I took DD6 to the concert and she loved it. It's HM, not an adult concert. Have fun! We got tickets again for another one and I can't wait to take two of DDs friends with this time so they can dance together!

My DD is 7 and we are going to the Baltimore HM concert next month :cool1: This will be her first concert. I know of many girls her age and even younger who are going or whose moms tried to get tickets, so I think there will be quite a broad age range of girls. LOL, my first concert was when I was 11 and it was Rick Springfield! :lmao:

I took my 7 year old and thought it was appropriate. She was soooo happy. I sent some pictures to my parents and they said they've never seen her looking so happy. Same thing at work - my supervisor said that smile was huge. My daughter was dancing in the isles and having a blast. I did check with the Mom of my daughter's really good friend if she could come if I got tickets and she said she thought that was too young, around age 10 more appropriate. That's fine, she's the Mom, so respect whatever she thinks is best for her daughter. I thought the show was very family friendly and cute!

Btw, your friend is hopelessly out of touch if he or she thinks Hannah Montana is pushing a child's maturity, or going to a concert is. It's no different than going to the ice show or the circus, really. And HM is about the squeakiest - clean thing out there. I would say, "I'm so glad she's interested in music and has chosen a pop star who still lives at home with her parents, has chores and an allowance, and respects her family values to emulate, rather than some of the other teen stars of today."

Or I might just say, "How odd that you chould care what choices I make for my family" and walk away...

I took my 3 dd's a week & a half ago.....they are 5, 7 & 10. The older 2 saw the Cheetah Girls last year so the youngest thought they should stay home this year because it was her turn. They all loved it! The one tip I have is to get "wax" for their ears. We had these wax ball things from when my dd had swimmers ear. According to the 10yo, they blocked out the screaming but they had no trouble hearing the concert.

I am going on Saturday with DD9 and DS6. While we got the tickets mainly for my dd, my ds watches the show too and loves it so there is no way he is not going. While it is a concert, it is a kids concert. To me its closer to seeing Disney on Ice than it is to Aerosmith (my first concert).

We just took DD5 last nightand she had a great time. She was amazingly quiet compared to the older kids.LOL it was a very kid friendly concert and I would not hesitate to take her to another similar event. Go and have a good time. It is al lmy daughter has talked about since we got home,I keeo catching her singing the songs when she thinks no one is listening. Have a great time.

Just took my girls, ages 6 and 4, last week to see Hannah in Cincinnati. My younger daughter just took it all in while my older one would get up and dance. The show is very age-appropriate, and I would highly recommend it to anyone lucky enough to snag tickets. The concert was much better than I expected...she is quite an entertainer! Have fun!

Just returned from taking my DD8 and niece(9) to Philly and they had a blast! The only thing you can judge is your child's tolerance to waiting in lines to get in, to get T-shirts, in the parking lot, and most importantly - in the bathroom! And the noise level. There were a few whiney pre-schoolers who did not figure out yet that the whole concert wasn't set up for them - but most school age children have already learned all the lessons about paitience, taking turns, and the noise. And boy was it cold outside til they opened the doors! You are not rushing your child if they know and like Hannah Montana. It is more like an entertainment show than a rock concert.

Reading everyone's comments on their first comment really ages me -- because my first concert was Donny Osmond - at about age 8. Then Van Halen at 14 - what a change!

I'm taking my two DD's ages 6 and 8 and my DN who will be 14 to tonight's show in Hartford - all three of them are excited beyond belief. We took DS to his first concert when he was 10 - The Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind and Vanessa Carlton. He love it.

Cheers-
~Luthien

I'm taking my 2 girls (ages 5 and 7) this Friday to see Hannah Montana.... my 5 yr old is always trying to keep up with her big sis so I couldn't very well leave her home when she LOVES Hannah Montana....

When I went all the kids from 9 and under were sitting on their parents laps with coats and their parents hands on their ears. It was REALLY loud. The only ages that were actually standing up singing along to the show were the 11 year olds and older. My opinio is you sell them and take her shopping with the money you get from selling them. She is probably too young,
