Applying for an apartment rental, should I call and inquire?

I looked at an apartment last Saturday. It is a 3 bedroom and very affordable for my town. I don't want to leave town with the kids. (husand and I are splitting up)

I filled out the application while I was there on Saturday, and he agreed to hold onto it for a couple of days, so I would have a chance to talk about it with DH. (I still want his input, as it involves where his kids will be living). I called him Monday, and told him to go ahead and do what ever it is he does with applications. (references, background checks). It's now Saturday and I haven't heard from him. Would it seem pushy for me to call him and ask what my status is?

At the showing on Saturday, it didn't seem like he had anyone else interested in the apartment. He seemed to like me, and I was very honest with him about what he will find doing a credit check. He appreciated me being honest.

I put my boss down as a reference. He only wanted one reference, so that was the only one I gave him. As of Wednesday, my boss had not heard from him. I know he has a job and a family, but I was hoping to have heard by now, even it is is an "I'm sorry....we can't rent to you"

Do I sit and wait, or should I give him a quick call and see what's happening?

Definitely call! You need to know whether he's going to rent to you or not so you know whether you need to continue to look for a place or not. Enough time has gone by (a week) so that it's not too soon to call. I hope you get the apartment! :thumbsup2
