Okay, I am buying a new dishwasher, wall oven, fridge and stove top.
Please tell me the pros and cons of stainless steel also of a grill in a stove top??

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!:confused3

I am torn because I have heard that Stainless shows fingerprints a lot and requires 'polishing'?!?!?!? I am sooo not wanting to be doing that!

Look them up in Consumers Guide. They list the pros and cons very well, plus which brands perform better for the price. Stainless is impressive looking but shows fingerprints easily.
I get the magazine monthly but they have a 2007 buying guide out thats a book. I refer to it for most of our larger ticket items including automobiles.

We're also in the market for all new appliances. I heard that stainless leaves fingerprints and smudges but I really like the look of it. They sell wipes to keep the applainces clean and I hope they work well!

Perhaps I can find a website for the 'Consumers Guide'. Good idea!

Appreciate the tip!

We have stainless...it is messy, but i like it. We have a Frigidaire fridge that is SUPPOSED to be stainless, but it really is not...it is something else. It's great though, it looks just like stainless, but it does not show fingerprints and magnets actually stick to it. A lot of manufacturers are now coming out with "smudge free" stainless...it is what my fridge is....something that has the look of stainless, but is really not.

As for a grill in a stove...it is the best thing EVER!!! I grill with mine probably 3 times a week. Just make sure the grill is removable and dishwasher safe. I use mine and then throw the whole thing in the dishwasher...it is so easy, and such a healthy way to eat. I don't know how I ever did without a stovetop grill!!

Good luck shopping!!!

I have the stainless everything...stove, dishwasher, fridge. We got it when we moved into our new house in July. I have two kids (11 and 7) and I have to say the stainless isn't as bad as I thought. I have always liked the look of it, but was worried about it showing fingerprints, etc. It really isn't bad at all.

I have all stainless and I love it. But I did make sure to get the brushed stainless as it shows less fingerprints!

One other thing, after having 2 different repair people at my house in the past 6 months-they BOTH said to stay away from Fridgidaire-they stink! (I was having TWO frigidaire appliances fixed both are 3 years old and needed repair already!

My range is brushed stainless, fridge is the "fake" brushed stainless. Both show some fingerprints but are very easy to clean. However, I just noticed a tiny chip in the fake surface...not happpy about that.

I have all Thermador stainless steel appliances. I love them all. I also have the grill in the cook-top. I have to admit that I don't use the grill, ONLY, because I don't want it to get dirty looking. (I know, its a stupid hang-up of mine). But, what I did do is buy a grill cover, also by Thermador, that sits on top of it and it hides it from looking "used". As for fingerprints, water spots, dust and anything else that can make the stainless steel from looking less than great, just use Endust furniture polish. Not pledge or any other furniture polish, just Endust. It makes it look brand new and repels everything. I was told this by the person in the showroom and I can't believe how wonderful it works. Before using this, I tried everything the supermarkets, Home Depot and Lowes carried. Endust is the only thing that works like a charm every time.
