I was watching a tutorial online and it says if you have questions, to book at time with the genius bar. Is there a charge for this?

No.
I've gone a few times with different apple products and I've never paid anything, even if nothing was really wrong.

When my husband first purchased our mac's he paid $100 for unlimited "one on one" time with a tech support person for a full year as he does all sorts of photography and other detail things that he wanted lots of help with and he said it was money well spent. But, to go to the genius bar, it doesn't cost extra and he still goes occasionally and sometimes (especially if it's an off time) he is the only one there. Apple is the "best" in more ways than one with us :thumbsup2 And no, we are not affiliated with them :goodvibes

I'm a bit confused. What is the difference between the one on one and the genius bar????

I went back in December to have our ipod looked at after we purchased a new laptop and it was not working and had to be restored. We made an appointment and they did not charge us and they fixed it right there. I did call apple beforehand and since our ipod was a few years old and out of warranty they offered to walk us through it over the phone for $30 (I think), glad I didn't pay b/c it was a problem with the new laptop so it would have been a waste of $$.

My husband would make an appointment with a tech supporter and they were alone together for as long as it took for any and all my dh's questions or needs to be answered. Believe it or not, our store here is usually literally wall to wall people and he had special things he expected to do and needed lots of uninterrupted time to get the most out of his computer. Most people probably would not need that much one on one but he utilizes every aspect of his and it was a completely different operating system and more involved than he was used to. And, believe it or not, he retired from IBM (in the Think-Pad developement dept.) I, on the other hand, am VERY computer challenged and get all my info from him, so hope I am explaining this all correctly :confused3 It's the only way I know how to explain it :goodvibes

So if you can go to the genius bar with any questions, why would anyone pay for the one on one option????

The One on One program provides you with an hour of tutoring a week. While the Genius Bar deals mostly with technical issues (my iPod won't sync, my phone isn't working, etc), One on One tutoring helps with preparing documents, learning how to use iMovie, how to edit films, learning how to build books in the Apple, etc.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for helping me out here. I'm sorry MichelleB, my dh was not around to help me explain it correctly, but this poster has put it like i meant to but am not computer savvy enough to explain what I meant :goodvibes

Having access to the Genius Bar is one of the GREAT things about using Apple products. They help with so many things, and sometimes just replace parts that you did not even expect.

I even had trouble syncing and went in there with my MacBook, an iPad, and an iTouch. :rotfl:

My touch screen thing on my MacBook was not working, and I went in about that last month. They swapped out my battery even though it was over a year (said they usually don't after a year), AND put a new cover on the bottom because they said it was cracking (I never noticed it was a tiny thing near the screw).

The Apple stores actually have workshops that anyone can sign up to do to learn how to use their products and what not. You can look up workshop times and such on their website. They are free as well.
