Ok so just curious but when I was at WDW back in 2010 we had the DxDP and we could use one of our appetizers towards the appetizers meant for two or the deluxe appetizers, and then order another one with the other appetizer credit. Have they stopped allowing this? I really hope that was clear.... lol trying not to be confusing :lmao:

The reason I ask is bc while I am looking threw the dining reviews most people are saying they used both their appetizer credits towards the appetizer meant for two.

So I guess the question is have they stopped allowing people to order the appetizer meant for two as their appetizer unless they have two appetizer credits to use?:confused3

It depends. Some places will allow one person to order an appetizer or other item described as "for two," but most places will require two people to pool their credits.

When we went in Feb 2011 they allowed us to each get the app meant for two (Le Cellier) I think we did it one other place but I can't remember. We were shocked and thought it was crazy but they allowed it. Oh just remember I think the other one was coral reef??? Not sure though

Via Napoli required 2 people on the DxDP for the Misto Fritto platter, as did Yak & Yeti for the Dim Sum basket. It seems like the non-Disney owned venues are more likely to be strict, whereas the Disney venues might be more flexible.

Anyone have experience with Sci-Fi and the Spinach dip for 2? Hopefully DW will go along with that but just in case...

Agree with figment jii...our experience has always been that the Disney-owned restaurants were more likely to be flexible on the components. So besides Yak & Yeti, the non-Disney places that would also apply to no double-appetizers unless you use both credits would be at Via Napoli, La Hacienda, San Angel Inn, Les Chefs de France, Rainforest Cafe, TRex, and almost all the other restaurants at Downtown Disney (Only Captain Jack is owned by Disney there).

We just ate at Via Napoli yesterday (Labor Day) and the server was very careful to point out the "for 2" items that would have to use both our credits for the appetizer course; La Hacienda San Angel on Sunday was the same way (they have a couple of main dishes that are "for 2", and server carefully pointed out that would take both entree credits and was meant to share.)

At Mama Melrose, we have been told more than once we could each get an appetizer even if one of us wanted the calamari for 2. Can't remember where else, but I think some of the resort restaurants have done the same thing

Basic rule of thumb on dining plans...if they don't mention it, just ask 'em. Sometimes you'll get to do what you want, can't know if you don't ask.:thumbsup2

I will say...we've had the Deluxe dining many, many times and vast majority of the restaurant appetizers at Disney are large servings...there's no way the 2 of us could eat an appetizer for two AND an additional appetizer for one unless that was the whole meal. Yes, there's the occasional "small" appetizer, but most of the single-serving apps are big enough to share in our experience.

.

Thanks everyone!

Scifi let us back in 2010! :)
