DS went out this morning and came home and said " Wow that was fun! and I made money too"

He had gone out and enlisted a couple of other kids so they could get more done and they started tackling the neighbourhood. By the time they were done he had $23 as his share

Not bad for a mornings work! LOL

My neighbour stopped by and said " Wow he is a hard worker!"

Now he's really begging for a snowstorm.

Ahh....brings back memories of my teenage years! I shoveled snow for years! I remember once night I was out until 1 a.m. shoveling...of course the next day I was "too tired" to go to school so my parents even let me stay home!! Shoveling is a great way for kids to earn some spending money.

wow! You must be proud! You've raised a good worker & a budding entrepeneur--congrats! :sunny:

great kid! we don't get snow around here, but some of the older kids make some pretty good money by charging a nominal fee to take down christmas lights off people's houses (or help them do so). it's amazing how much faster it is having an extra set of hands (and so worth the $20 most of the kids charge).

It amazes me that the neighborhood kids don't come to mow my grass or shovel my driveway -

they have just started shoveling and at $20-25 a pop - I am in

I pay someone $35 to mow my grass and I would love to pay a neighborhood kid 20 or 25 but no takers

When DH was a child, he made a fortune shoveling snow and mowing lawns. I think he still had some of that money when we got married. I took care of that right away.

$20-$25???

Wow my neighbours are getting a BARGAIN then!

Cam is only charging $6 for a double and $8 for a triple I think

Of course our driveways are only about a car and half in length so maybe that makes a difference?

I have a tribe of kids (brothers, sisters and cousins) who cut my grass, rake my leaves, and walk the dog when they want spending money and their moms allow them the time (being kids, their time isn't their own). My husband says I overpay them, but I'm was so thrilled they showed initiative. Plus, Daisy Dawg loves the extra walks.

Around here he would make a whole lot more. Wish some kids would offer I would gladly pay them to help save our backs.

I would so gladly love to hire a neighborhood kid to shovel and mow!! Especially shovelling. It doesn't affect my quality of life too much if hte grass is too long, but getting stuck in the driveway is really not fun!!

We pay our kids to mow our lawn and to shovel snow, but they like doing the lawn a LOT more then the snow. I would GLADLY pay someone $25 to do my driveway and sidewalks (we have a long driveway and a sidewalk that runs along the street and going up to the house).
