I have reservations for RPR June 6 - 9th. When I booked, the room was $195 per night. I've been reading this forum (which is great, by the way) and have noticed that if I purchase the annual pass for $180, I can save almost $200 for our three night stay.

My questions are:
1) Do I need to have the pass in hand before calling and changing my reservation rates (which will drop to $129 per night)?

2) I have also signed up with Loews Hotels online and have a number. Can I combine both? What type of room upgrade would you receive with the "cheapest" room?

3) What other discounts can you receive with the annual pass?

We went to Universal and Disney 5 years ago but did not stay onsite at either place. This time, we are staying at each local and are really looking forward to our trip!!

1. No, you do not need to have an AP to make the room reservation with the discount. They will ask to see one at check in, and you can even check in with your AP voucher if you buy it online. They will just want to see your activated pass later. (This is not always the case, but seems to be the usual scenario.)

2. Sorry, you do not qualify for any Loews First perks with the AP rate. No upgrades, no welcome gift, etc. The only discount that qualifies for that is the AAA rate.

3. AP theme park discounts:

I wouldnt worry too much about loews first. You would not have gotten a upgrade if you just signed up anyway. Go for the APH rate!! that is wonderful. Not to mention all of the other wonderful discounts you get with the APH. You will save a TON of money, but you might want to get the APH lanyard and wear it so you actually remember to show your card for the discounts.

Unfortunately, I already have my tickets. I purchased them at the beginning of the year. I am able to donate my ticket (along with the 3 "free" ones I received) to the nonprofit agency I work for to add to a Florida live auction package. At least I get a write-off and the money goes to a great cause (women's shelter).
