I posted this on the AP7 thread, but this information saved me so much money that I thought it was worth putting in a separate thread.
Thanks to all of YOU on the DISboard
, I just called about our trip that is scheduled from July 30 (that's only three days away) to Aug. 6 at the Disneyland Hotel. I had decided to splurge and booked two rooms (hopefully connecting, but they won't guarantee that), one for me and DH, and one for DD15 and her friend. But the total price has been bothering me
ever since I made the ressies a couple of months ago. Then in this thread, someone pointed out that the AP7 code is effective IMMEDIATELY! I figured it was worth a try, and would you believe that I just got a room rate of $179/night for each room!! We had to give up our preferred view (that wasn't available at a discounted rate), but for a reduction in price PER NIGHT, PER ROOM of $189
(that's about half my original cost), I quickly decided we could do without the view!
My DH has been told he can NEVER AGAIN give me a bad time about my time on the DISboards
!
The ONLY downside is that now we will have to enter DL and get our annual passes at the Bank before we can check in, and since we are not arriving until 6 PM that will be a bit of a pain. I have already bought 5-day PH passes online, and we were going to wait to convert those to APs on Sunday, so we could get into the parks on Saturday, which is a blockout day. But now at least one of us will have to convert to AP right away, since I understand you have to have your AP in hand to check in. That will probably be me, and then I'll pay the $40 for the Saturday blockout ticket, which is a small price to pay for all the savings we'll get. We'll just leave our luggage with bell services, go into the park, and then go back. Wow - now I won't have to be a hawk about the budget for all the other things (my DD15 will appreciate that).
The person who helped us on the phone (can't remember her name, but I did do the survey at the end to tell Disney how helpful she'd been) was great, and double-checked before changing my ressie. She said there are six or seven different discount codes out there right now, and she and the other phone workers were all putting in over 40-hour weeks because the phones were so busy.
So - check it out even if you have a trip coming up SOON! I never guessed they'd have a good discount code this early in the summer.
