AP with never expiring tickets

I have a 10 day never expiring park hopper with water parks and more linked to my account and Magicband.

I'm looking at getting an annual pass. But someone on the phone at guest services and on the phone at My Disney Experience / internet helpdesk told me something that worries me.

They said if I get the annual pass, that the ticketing system at the parks will *always* prioritize the never expiring tickets over all other media including annual passes. So if I use my magic band that has both the AP and the never expiring tickets, it won't use the AP.

They said I could wait in line and talk to guest services EACH visit and EACH park hop, and have them grant me admission into the park manually, but that if my magicband is scanned at the park entrance it WILL deduct a day. And once deducted, I "can't get it back".

And they said many guest services cast members will say it is no problem -- to just scan the magicband -- and then the user finds out later that a ticket was used. And then the ticketing people and guest services supposedly have "no option" to fix the problem and that I will have lost the day of park admission.

This seems rather stupid. Does anyone have any direct experience? Is there someone else I should be asking? I can't believe that Disney would basically ignore that I have an AP and just keep deducting my tickets.

As is (far, far) too often the case, the "Phone CM" is giving out bogus information.
They get these kind of things wrong SO OTEN that it has become just an
"expected occurrence" that you'll get wrong info when these kinds of situations are discussed.

Here's the real situation:

If your current Non-expiring ticket has NEVER been used in the past,
you can simply transfer it into a new "fake name" account you can create in your MDE account.

If your current Non-expiring ticket HAS been partially used in the past,
just go to any Guest Relations outside a park BEFORE you go to the entrance tap styles
and have the CM set the Non-expiring ticket to the LOWEST PRIORITY, and that ticket
will not be used until such time as you change the priority, or your AP expires.

I have no experience, but to save my sanity I would create a new MDE account with a different email and purchase/link the AP to that, so each ticket has it's own account.

We have the exact situation, except no park hopper. Our old no-expiration tickets have a few days left, but we bought annual passes this year.

We stopped at the AK ticket office to activate our APs and the Cast member set it up so that the AP would have priority. We then went to the parks and park hopped for 5 days in March without a second thought.

We are going back in October and I had to call last month regarding our reservation. I asked the cast member about our tickets and she said our old No expiration tickets still had their remaining days and our APs were still listed as having priority.

Not necessary.

And, just so it's out there...
If the older ticket DID accidentally get used, it can be "reset/replaced" by Disney ticketing
with simply showing that you had an active AP at the time of the trip(s) so that
there would be no way that a guest would INTEND to use another kind of ticket.
