Okay, our AP just expired this week. We have no plans for another trip until next May. I purchased new AP with the DC discount when they were offering double Reward points with the VISA card. With DC soon to end and the triple credit offer now going on, I'm so tempted to buy two more AP to keep in the safe for future trips. My reasoning is that the DC discount helps out and the price can only go up. We are DVC Members but I don't see any chance of a special pass price becoming available for us anytime soon other than the UPH that's already available and way too costly!!

Any advise?

I purchased an extra set of APs with my DC discount when Disney Visa had the double points. Now I am also thinking of buying another set with the triple points and DC. DH doesn't think I should, but the passes are good forever (at this point) and the DC is going, going, gone. Let's compare the savings. To buy 2 APs with no discount = 392.99 (adult pass) X 2 = 785.98.
To buy 2 APs with DC & triple DV points = 366.65 (adult pass) X 2 = 733.30. This is a total savings of 52.68 for the two passes. Of course, you still have to lay out the DV savings, because you will redeem the reward points later. So, I still may do this....what do you think? Do you think there will be a different discount program in the future for the passes?

Not crazy to me, I say go for it and may just do the same.

Actually, I giggle as I read this. I think we are all crazy, but I for one feel much better about my insanity knowing that I am not alone! Hey, $50.00 is $50.00 and with the additional $21 I will have earned on my VISA, that makes over $70 savings that I'm pretty confident I will not recoup later. We can all feel so smart about our decision when the price increases and we already have passes!

That is the total savings, unless I am calculating wrong.

I just did the same thing. I was planning on purchasing new PAP's in July, so I took the money I was saving and bought a few of them with the DC discount and the triple Visa points promotion. the way I figure it, even if they give us triple reward points on pass purchases withthe Visa as a perk, we still lose $5.00 as compared to the DC $20.00 discount. I didn't want to count onthat so I bought mine on Friday night. Fingers crossed that someone gives us money for Christmas and then we could get one more with DC before January!
I guess if you know you are going to be able to use them and that you were going to spend the money anyway you might as well take advantage of purchasing them with the discount.
Not that they are usually right about these things, but the CM did mention that I was beating the "price increase" as well. I had not heard anyting to that effect before purchasing, but just another good reason for getting them ahead of time, if it is true.::yes::

The price for the AP with DC discount is $377.01/each. I just purchased two last saturday. For the member whose AP just expired, you should have got a discount offer to renew your AP from Disney.

The OP isn't going again until May, so that's probably why she didn't renew her AP. The renewal starts the day the original AP expires.

Bingo! I hate that we couldn't take advantage of the discounted renewal, but it didn't make since for the clock to start ticking in December again. In fact, when we go in May, we are going on the seven night cruise with just a couple of days at WDW. Depending on how we feel about it, we may just lay low and enjoy the resort and not activate our passes then either!

I say if you have the money to pay off the Visa right away, go for it! If you don't have the money to pay it off, then you are going to have to pay the interest, and that will certainly cut into your savings.

That being said, I have been saving for a trip next December, and had enough for 2 AP's, so I bought them, used DC and put them on my Disney Visa! :D
