I purchased an AP and now have vouchers. Just to make sure I have to go to the ticket both to swap? Or do I just get the actual pass at the turnstyle?

You can take the vouchers directly to the turnstiles and they will give you a temporary ticket. At some point in the day you have to take the ticket and your ID and go to the ticket booth. They will process it and give you the actual plastic AP. Then on that same day you must also find a photopass photographer and have your picture taken. It is kind of a pain, actually. The nice CM at the ticket booth did say that if you go to the Photo Store on Main Street, you can ask for your picture to be taken and they will do it right there. That is what we did so we weren't wandering around.

We did it this way so we could go inside the park during the day, ride some rides early, and grab some FPs. We didn't want to wait in the ticket booth line in the morning, which can be long. We went in the afternoon when the lines died down.

Another note, pay careful attention to the date of the AP they issue you! They issued my DH an AP for the day he bought the voucher, not the day we were activating them. We had to correct them and get a new AP.

Have fun! :goodvibes

ArchOwl gave you great info. I second her comment on carefully checking the date on the AP. We had problems with the dates on ours too but didn't leave the ticket booth until they straightened everything out. Also, when you get your photo taken, remove glasses and hats. Some of the photopass photographers either forget to ask you to do this or don't realize you need to do so. It's a pain to have your photo rejected and then have to go get it done again. Until that photo appears in the system, you will probably be asked for picture ID every time you enter either park.

Can you just go to the tickets booths or do you have to go thru the turnstiles first? It seems easier, for us, to go to the tickets booths the afternoon when we arrive then to have to enter the parks and then turn around and go to the tickets booths.

Yep, you can go straight to the ticket booth. It would probably be easier, and we should have done it that way last time we went.

Also note that if you've had an AP in the past 2 years they will have your photo on file so if you go to the ticket booth you will simply get your new AP, they will use your old photo that they have on file.

Yeah it has deffiently been more than two years since we had APs. As an alternative to the photopass, can't you also upload your own photo? I think that might be another time saving measure, to just upload a photo that we took at home prior to the trip.

Uh huh, you would think. I don't know what the heck the CM handling our transaction did but in addition to messing up the expiration date, she also informed us that we had to get our pictures re-taken. We got our new APs in August 2011. Our last ones expired in April 2011. We had never had to get our pictures re-taken before when our passes lapsed. I asked her why our pictures weren't still in the system like they always had been. The CM just shrugged her shoulders. Sure enough when we entered the park on our new APs, the system reported "photo not found" for all of us, and we had to get new ones.

That is weird....we got our new ones in April 11, they still had our old photos on file from our APs that expired in Jan 10.....

I agree that it is weird! We've been using the same photos for years whether the APs had expired or not. I was really surprised when the CM announced that we needed to go get our pictures taken. I commented that we had been in the system for years and asked where our pictures went, and she had no explanation. I had hoped that maybe the pictures were still attached and the CM didn't know what she was talking about, but we got to the gates and the gate CM asked for picture ID and I peered over at her screen and saw the big blank box. Obviously people before and since have managed to get "new" APs without having to have their pictures re-taken, so I don't know what happened to us.
