AP upgrade & character dining discount

So I was wondering if I upgrade only one of our hoppers, can that be used for the total bill to be discounted at the character meals? Or would only 1 of us receive the discount? I was really trying to wait till the end of the trip to up the rest of the family to AP's.

We have always been granted the discount on the entire bill...as long as the AP holder pays the bill.

You bet you can. They will discount the entire bill as long as you show 1 AP card.
