AP Restaurant Discounts Question

We've purchased APs (1st time), we have a trip coming up in 9 days :yay:

We didn't do a dining plan, so thought some of restaurant discounts would come in handy.

I saw a post on another board that said something about not getting your "discount card" and slider for Magic Band until after you've activated (and are home from trip).

Is this true? About the discount card, if there even is one? I just assumed you'd show your AP to get the restaurant discounts? Any elaboration would be appreciated :)

I just showed gen tice card for Ap discounts last trip

You will get your AP Discount Card after you activate your AP. This trip you just show your hard ticket AP and I.D. for the discounts.

at Guest services / the place you pick up your AP - they will give you a green AP discount card - usually with your name and expiration date hand written on it. Once you are home they will mail you a gold discount card with your AP expiration date printed on it (that has been our experience ) and you will get your AP slider once you order your AP magic bands.

We just showed our AP with our photo ID to get our discounts. You can also look at getting a Tables in Wonderland card too (20% of table service)

We didn't get a AP slider :(

We didn't get a box at the GFV, just the bands.
Pretty sure those would be the resort stay bands, not the AP bands.
You don't get those at the parks or the resorts.
You order them online after you activate the bands. I'm not aware of any other method to get them.
Maybe those outside the US can't do that? I know they don't ship resort stay bands outside the US, maybe they don't ship the AP bands out either. Are you in the US?

The AP "discount card" is a totally unnecessary extra piece of plastic. I have always just shown my current AP & ID in order to receive any AP discounts we are entitled to. Sliders come with your AP MB's if you order them online through your MDE account. I did receive my slider once from the CM's at one of the ticket booths when I asked for the current AP benefit folder and they noticed I didn't have a Slider on my MB. I didn't ask for it, they offered it to me. I don't know if they always have them available at the ticket booths or if I just got pixie dusted.

We are in Canada. I had DH mention the sliders when we ordered them and they said to ask the resort when we got there and we forgot about it.

BUT we did find slider watch faces for our bands :)
