We are thinking about getting AP's when we arrive in WDW. Will we be able to use the AP discounts (if any, we'll be there in june) if we don't have AP's at check-in?

Are the AP discounts available on a limited basis?

when i spoke to disney, they said that i would have to have an actual pass when i checked into the resort. i explained that i was buying a voucher and would get the pass after i got there but was coming straight to the resort. they told me that since i would not have a car, i would have to leave my lugguage with bell services and take the bus to the nearest guest services (downtown disney was suggested) and trade the voucher in before i would be allowed to check in.

sounded like a big hassle to me but i am getting the feeling that it is a speech that the reservation people must give. many on these boards have said that they showed their voucher and were able to check in fine and asked to just bring the pass back later. others said that they weren't asked for anything. if you do not have an actual pass at checkin but just the voucher, just be prepared to go to guest services at one of the parks or downtown disney if they ask.

I would be very surprised if a voucher was not accepted at check-in regardless of what CRO is telling you. I don't think the folks at the desk have any interest in changing the amounts owed in the computer.

The first time I had an AP discount, we went to Downtown Disney before the resort so we could buy the pass. The resort didn't even ask to see it. We transferred to another resort during that stay and were asked to show the pass. Since then we've had AP discounts at four resorts and never been asked to show a pass.

IF you are flying in to MCO (Orlando International Airport) you can purchase APs at the Disney Store. That is what I did on my last trip. Annual pass rates are available on a limited basis.

Yikes! I am purchasing my first annual pass when I go on December 10! I thought all you needed was the voucher to get the AP rate. I also asked them to keep the voucher at guest services because I did not want to risk it not arriving at my home in time. I have already paid for the AP and will have the resort paid for in full before I arrive, but I was not planning on activating the AP until December 11.

Do you think I will have any problems?

I usually go to Disney with my friends and kids (without my husband), but this time my husband is coming along. I would not want to have any problems as soon as we try to check in!!

Thanks,
Kim

Don't worry about it - the CMs @ check-in will work with you. If they absolutely "must see" your AP to give you that rate, they'll let you show it any time before check-out. Go ahead with your plans of activating on 12/11 ::yes::

i agree with the previous poster. certainly do not change your plans based on the possibility that you may have to have the actual pass. most of the posters that have responded to this email before have said that they were not asked to go and get the actual pass so you should be fine either way.

We had the vouchers when we checked in. I was worried that we would need the actual APs. I obsessed over it. Guess what - they never even asked to see the vouchers! I have been told though that you could use the vouchers and then just go to the front desk after you've activated them to show that they were activated.
