AP renewal

We have AP's. They will expire immediately after our next trip (October). We won't be going again until December of '09. Will we save anything by renewing them rather then simply buying new ones? Also, if we renew, are they automatically renewed for THAT date or do we activate them on our next trip?

Just want to plan ahead!

If you are not going until December of 09, then it would not make sense to renew. Just wait and purchase December of 09.

You will need new passes. Renewals are backdated to the expiration date of the original pass.

If your APs expire in Oct 08, a renewal will only extend them until Oct 09. Just order new ones to start at the beginning of your Dec 09 trip.

Is there a way to figure out the opportunity costs of renewing an ap vs getting a new one for the new year?

For example,

Our APs expire 12/26 this year. We are going several times next year beginning for the marathon 01/13 and ending around 01/02/09.

Should we re-up for this year and then worry about next year later on (12/26/07) and get additional days for the rest of that trip? Or let them expire and re-up for the marathon so we wouldn't have to worry about having to renewing?

I try to figure out when I will be making my trips during the next year. We'll be getting APs in mid-June 08. Then we'll have another trip in early June in 09.

We have gone at marathon time several times. Twice we arrived for NYE. Once we arrived right before the marathon and stayed for another week after. So we could use the AP for both those trips.

With the DVC discount, the $ differnce between a renewal and a new AP is $35 I think. So it really comes down to your vacation plans.
