AP renewal question (and bonus Disney gift card question!)

My AP expires December 5. When I look on the Disney website, I can see the option to renew it at the discounted renewal rate. I’m ASSUMING that if I renew now (hedging against price increases), the renewal period won’t start until December 6 and will run until next December 5? In other words, I’m assuming the one-year renewal period won’t start the date I renew, but when my current AP ends?

Also - the renewal price is more than the $1000 limit that a Disney gift card can hold, but the website only allows one gift card for payment. Does anyone know, if I call in, can I pay with two gift cards?
