There are AP rates for that time frame, check on the website that FutureAshleyDukes posted. Call today, and if they don't have any rooms that you can utilize the codes with call again around 1 week before you leave. The cancellation period is 6 days out so you might be able to pick something up then from a cancellation.
AP rates are discounted hotel rates for people who have annual passes for the theme parks. If you have an annual pass, and you call central reservations, you can check to see if they have annual pass rates for your stay.
An AP rate is one that you could qualify for if you have an annual pass to the parks...AP. A lot of people wait to see if they can get an AP rate when they book since you don't have to have the pass in hand when you book your resort. However, technically you are supposed to have the AP, or a voucher for one, when you check in. If you calculate the cost of a room without the AP(but adding in what your park passes would cost) and then compare it to what the room would be with an AP rate, plus the cost of the AP you should be able to figure out if it's a good thing for you to do.
if i book a package today-- can i still apply an AP discount later - to the room portion of the package? or do i have to maybe break the package up or canceling it all together? and then apply the AP discount.

You would have to cancel and rebook. You can't apply an AP rate to a package. You may have to go over your options to see which way would work best for you. Much of it depends on how many days you plan on visiting the parks within a year.
I'm not positive about the 45 day cancellation. I would say that it would have to be before that. Last year the ap rates came out March 9th. There has been some speculation that they might come out sooner than that this year. Of course, that could just be wishful thinking on my part! There can be a lot to think about when planning a disney vacation! Enjoy your planning!
No, only one person in your party is required ot have an AP to qualify for the discount. I just booked two rooms in March at POR w/ the AP discount, saved us over 40% vs. rack rates.
