AP rates and activation

So my husband and I are looking to become AP holders since we are moving back to FL and will be so close to Disney.

If we were to go ahead and order them but not activate the actual tickets are we able to use the AP discount before the activation?

If you mean use the AP discount to get a resort discount with the AP rate, yes. But you have to call to get the rate. They will tell you that you must show the AP admission to the front desk the day you check in. I've had to do that a few times; other times the CM at reception doesn't say anything and I guess they take you at your word.

For other discounts (dining, merchandise, etc.) you need the actual admission media.
