A few quick questions... When do the annual passes becaome available, how much are they and are you able to obtain discounted room rates with them? If yes, who do I call for this - many thanks in advance! DIS is the best!

sorry - here is the information from the DVC member site

Passes can be purchased online by visiting dvcmember.com or at any Guest Relations location at all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks and the Downtown Disney area beginning January 2, 2005. Your Disney Vacation Club Member ID card must be provided and all adults must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household. Limit 8 purchases per household.

When a Walt Disney World Annual or Premium Annual Pass is ordered through dvcmember.com, an exchange certificate will be sent to you via mail. The certificate can be redeemed at any Walt Disney World Theme Park ticket window by presenting the exchange certificate, your Disney Vacation Club Member ID card and all adults must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household. The Pass is good for 365 days from exchange certificate redemption. Renewals will be valid for 365 days from original Pass Anniversary Date.

so only online or at the parks.

Thanks very much spiceycat! So, how much are they with the discount and can I just call 407 wdisney to reserve a room at the special AP rate? I appreciate you taking the time to help me out!

Yes, you can just call that number to try to get an AP rate. But the rates are released just a couple of months at a time and usually just a short while before the time frame applies. Right now you could call for one set of Dec. AP rates or another set good from early Jan. to mid Feb.. You might not be able to get your first choice of resorts when you first call.

Hi There,

The above info is what I believed to be true, but when I phoned MS they informed me as soon as I bought the clock started running. We are planning another 3 week stay in Oct 05 and then to return in Jul/Aug 06 for a further 2 weeks. :

Question: Do you have to carry photo ID all the time when using the pass.

Question: Can I receive AP room discounts prior to the card being activated.

If there should be any problems trying to use the card (same for your room ID), you may be asked for photo ID to verify your identity. If you should ever misplace the card, Guest Services at any park will replace it without charge- providing you have a photo ID. We always carry ID with us at WDW.

While CMs are inconsistent about checking the AP, it is supposed to be active at time of check-in to receive any AP rates or discounts.

You can get AP rates without having AP but must have it at check in. You can not get the AP rates at the Disney website because you have to enter the number when ordering.

You will not be asked for your AP# when reserving a room at the AP rate unless that will be another change.

To access the AP site on WDW.com you do need to enter your AP# but it often is not working properly and even once you access it, you can not reserve a room at the AP rate. It directs you to call Disney.

StephenKay, I think the person you spoke to in Guest Services just wasn't up to speed on APs yet. The quote that spiceycat posted explains the way ordering and activating APs have worked for some years now.
