AP question

I'm toying with the idea of talking my DH into buying APs and going down the week before Christmas this year and then going again when we originally planned in Oct. of next year.

If we did that, I'd want to buy APs for us. When do APs start? Is it when you buy them or when you run them through the parks for the first time? If I wanted an AP discount for a hotel, would I have to already have the AP or could I just present it at check-in?

AP's start the first day you use them to enter into a park. When you do not currently have an AP you can still get an AP discount but you would have to make the ressie by calling. You will not be able to do it online because you have to register the AP and you need the number from it your pass. If you have certain dates in mind you can post a message asking someone with an AP to look up availability and cost for you, I have done this and seen a lot of others do it also Hope this helps.
