I am going to Disneyland this coming weekend (May 29-31 - only 5 days left!) to celebrate my Un-birthday with my best friend, my mom, and some family friends. We've decided to purchase 2-day park hoppers for Friday and Saturday and then upgrade to the Southern California AP on Saturday to use on Sunday. I just want to confirm that we can upgrade on a blockout day???

Thanks!

I have not checked the blockout calendar, but IF Saturday is a blockout and Sunday is NOT, you will be fine, because...

Friday - use PH for entry
Saturday (blockout day) - use PH for entry, making blockout irrelevant
Sunday - use AP

If you're getting the absolute cheapest so cal pass, it looks like the Sat AND Sun are blocked.

But if you're getting the next level up of so cal AP, then Sunday does seem to be open. And that means that yes, you could upgrade on Sat and come on in with your new AP on Sun.

Bumbershoot is correct. The SoCal Select would not work, as Sundays are blocked out, but the SoCal Regular would work the way you want it to.

Thank you everyone!! We are planning on buying the regular Southern California AP so according to everyone, it won't be an issue!

IIRC, the first day of a new pass are never blocked out.
Correct!!

For the days you listed:
Southern California Select is blocked out Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Southern California is blocked out on Saturday only.

Plan A
2-day park hopper for Southern Californians is $94 and on Saturday you get the Southern California Select AP if you turn in your 2-day park hopper for Southern Californians AND hand over the $40 difference. The Southern California Select AP is $134.00
If you do this you will not get in on Sunday. Either the park hopper is over with as you used it on Friday and Saturday thus you cannot use it to buy the AP or you bought the AP on Saturday and then are blacked out on Sunday.

Plan B
Buy the Southern California 2fer Ticket for $69 and enter the park on Friday and one park then Saturday at DCA then on Saturday you turn in your Southern California 2fer Tickets AND hand over the $65 difference and not go to DLR the next day. The Southern California Select AP is $134.00
If you do this you will not get in on Sunday. Either the 2fer ticket is over with as you used it on Friday and Saturday thus you cannot use it to buy the AP or you bought the AP on Saturday and then are blacked out on Sunday.

Plan C is for you to get the Southern California 2fer Ticket and go to one park on Friday. Saturday you turn in your Southern California 2fer Tickets AND hand over the $109 difference in tickets. You then could use the new AP for Saturday and Sunday.
The Southern California AP is $174.00

Plan D is for you to get the 2-day park hopper for Southern Californians is $94 and go to the parks on Friday. Saturday you turn in your Southern California 2fer Tickets AND hand over the $80 difference in tickets. You then could use the new AP for Saturday and Sunday.
The Southern California AP is $174.00

There is also payment plans. If you used plas C and D then ou would end up paying less than $10 a month for you AP if you are a Southern California resident so you may want to think about even getting a Deluxe AP on Saturday using the above plans C and D and the payment plan.

The 3 day Summer Fun Pass would be your best option as you would get to go each day then buy the Southern California Select AP on Sunday but that does not start until June 1, 2009.:headache:

The 2-day regular park hopper is $143 thus you can only upgrade that to a Southern California AP or higher NOT the Southern California Select AP. You may only upgrade if the value of the old medium is equal to or lesser than the new medium.
