Advise please...We plan on going Dec. 2005 for first use with AP's than plan to go again late August/Sept. 2005. We have #5 people in the family. Planning to stay 7 nights each trip. Is it worth the exta cost to get water parks included in tickets and are there other perks to Preminm pass or better money wise to just stay with AP and do the water park only ones durning stay in Aug/Sept. Can you buy AP's than upgrade to preminm at a good price. Would like to hear your thoughts I have never been there done that AP thing...........

I bought PAP's for me and my 2 oldest sons (16 and 14). They like to go to DQ many times during our stay and we hit the waterparks atleast once. For dh and my 4 yr old we got AP's. They dont go to DQ and we had 2 or 3 old park hoppers with some plus options still on it incase we hit the water park.
If you dont do DQ and the waterparks just once then I would go with AP's. If you do the waterparks more often and/or DQ then I would go for the PAP's.
I have heard that you can upgrade to a PAP for a prorated amount but we have not done that.

We're going in November, but staying at CSR. We've decided to just get the regular APs, since CSR has such a nice pool, and if the weather is kind of coolish we wouldn't use the water parks anyway.
But, we also plan on going next May, so if we want the water parks then, we'll just buy one day tickets there.(or if we want to do DQ, instead)

This hasn't been the case for the past two years. They will no longer prorate the AP upgrade to a PAP. You can do the transaction but you will be charged the full price difference between the two (currently $127.50) regardless of how much time remains on your AP. The upgraded PAP will expire on the same date as your original AP was scheduled to.

We usually buy PAP's..... because of the flexibility they offer. If we had to buy a one day pass to the waterpark and it started pouring, we are out of luck. If we have the PAP's we can leave and come back another day. Many times we have adjusted our trips to include more water park/Disney Quest trips than we originally planned.

I say premium all the way! That's what we have, as we are huge fans of the water parks. Of course, we are in FL quite a bit, and even in the peak season, we hit Typhoon Lagoon for a couple of hours at the end of the day when everyone else has cleared out. It's really nice to have that option.

I'm having the same problem deciding which pass to buy---AP or PAP???? I read somewhere that if you go to the water parks ____ amount of days, that's the break even point. I would like to surprise the kids with them for Christmas. We will get the FL resident prices because we will be considered FL residents at the time. Anyone know how often you need to go to DQ or water parks to break even? TIA.

Just bought 2 of each in June 04. In order for you to get your money's worth out of the PAP, you have to use it more than 4 times at either the water parks or DQ. So if you go to Disney twice in a year, and go to 1 water park each time and DQ 1 night each time, you break even. You will have to go to a total of 5 times or more in the year to come out ahead. If you buy an AP, you get $4 off admission to the waterparks or DQ. So if you won't go a total of 5 or more times to waterparks or DQ,, go the AP route. With AP you also get 50% off the Disney mini-golf, and 10% off water rental and dining at cerrtain restauranrs. Also, you get 10% off at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. You get all these with PAP too. Only difference is how many times you will use waterparks and DQ over the year's time. Hope this helps!

Thanks Marylandjen! I think we will get the PAP's as my son loves the WDW water parks and he and his dad will go to DQ often as we will live nearby. We will also go to waterparks with friends who will come to WDW as well as those who stay with us. Thanks again.
