Cast of characters: DH41, DS13, DD4, and me (36). We like to camp, but suprisingly have never done it at WDW. I recently started reading the DIS camping board, and it sounded like so much fun. We have already rented a house for an upcoming trip this Aug, but DH and I talked it over and decided we'd buy our first ever AP's in June '08 and parlay them into three trips; one of which will include Christmas '08. Are we crazy? Very likely.
Yesterday I booked a partial hookup site at FW, and requested the 1500 loop for June 20-27 2008. I also went on timeanddate.com to determine when we could make our Dec 2008 and June 2009 ressies and marked those on the calendar.
Right now the plan is to camp in our existing tent, but we need to purchase a few creature comforts that we don't currently own, since our camping trips are usually only a few days long, in relatively mild temps, and nowhere near as exhausting as WDW. We plan to get :
Just to clarify, we don't plan to run the AC all day/night; just cut it on at night long enough to make it bearable for sleeping. We've been to WDW in June and know how hot and humid it can be, and we've also taken several trips to WDW in Dec where it hit the 30's at night. The little heater will hopefully help make the tent bearable should the temps plunge during the Christmas trip. Knowing that tent fabric is flammable, we will take precautions to keep it away from anything that could ignite, and won't leave it running while we sleep.
We'll probably take the A/C on a dry run at Carowinds (a local theme park with campground) in July. We figure NC July heat is probably comparable to FL June heat. If we can't stand it, we will probably end up buying a small pop-up camper; something we've toyed with anyway.
We're really psyched about our first camping trip at WDW!!!

- One of those newer "Max" coolers that is supposed to keep food/drinks cold for five days in 90 degree temps
- A dining screen room
- A small portable A/C
- A small electric ceramic heater (with tip-over auto shut off).
