AP DiscoUnts and split stays

We are considering an late April trip to WDW and are also considering a split stay between the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Grand Floridian. We have never stayed at either resort and would like to try them both. If you split stay at resorts can you get AP or room-code rates? We are planning a 5 night trip, staying at one resort for 3 nights and one resort for two nights. Any help or prior experiences would be appreciated.

We are splitting a stay with AP rates in March - between the POP and the Poly. It's easy to do, they just treat it as 2 separate bookings. (But the phone call to book will take much longer - use a cell if you can!! - I was on the phone 45 minutes last week - much of it on hold)
