Morning All - I just called to have an AP rate applied to my existing reservation for AKL Conceirge. I had no trouble getting the AP rate applied but I found the discount rate to be very discouraging. My original "Rate rate" was $435/night but with the new AP discount I got $386/night. While this is better then the Rack rate it only ammounts to about an 11% discount. I was expecting much more (in the 30% - 40% range). Anyone else seeing this?

It looks like our discount after taxes with the GF GV room was about 26%. Not like the old days of 30-40% off, but I'll take what I can get.

:sunny:

My BWI Concierge rate for January went from $485/night inclusive to $385/night inclusive which is a little over 20%.

My FW cabin was $234 and I got it for $144 so that was a savings of 39% unless my math is off.. lol.. which has been known to happen LOTS :rolleyes:

It seems like lately they are doing a set dollar amount off the deluxe resorts instead of a percent. So, it might be say, $85 off the room, as opposed to 35%.

I wondered this myself since we just stayed AKL Concierge in Sept. The figure for 2005 appeared to be the same dollar figure I had with this years AZZ rate.

So, I just pulled my old paperwork. In 2004 the AZZ rate for concierge was approx $384 figure; when I applied the AP rate (EWK) it was less by approx $11./night (373). So in 2005 rates the AP rate seems like more to me because of the price increase from 2004 to 2005. Rack rate from 425 - 435.

That sounds more like AAA rate! Perhaps they are not discounting concierge as much??
Nothing is like the old days...AAA in Sept was $402. for concierge. AAA rates have been lousy for some time now - better than rack but not much. I typically start with AAA then move up to room only then AP rates.

I got an AP rate for AKL concierge 2/16

Rack Rate --> AP Rate
435 +tax --> 345 +tax
485 w/tax --> 385 w/tax

--> is either a $90 discount or ~20% off the rack rate

A set dollar amount discount seems similar what they have done recently , rather then the % discount. What do you think?

I was wondering the same thing!!

Last Jan we got Poly for $179 vs. Rack rate of $299. (That's 40%).

This coming Jan, I just got GF (gv) for $259 vs. a rack rate of $349 (That's about 25%)

Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful to get anything more than AAA that we had, I guess I was just counting on the typical 40-45%. I don't think I would buy an AP again if this is the trend because I could just hope for a "public" code.

Ok - I bit more information now. I called back again and finally found out that my room rate was $345/night and that the $386/night was with the tax. So the end result is really about a 20% discount. Still not nearly the 30-40% I was thinking I'd get but better then AAA. I'll see what the "general public" discount rate is when it comes out tomorrow. If it is 15% or so I may switch to that rate and skip the expense of getting an AP.

Rack rate for my Jan trip to AKL is $280 for a savannah view. AAA rate was $265.37. I just got an AP rate if $151, which is a little over a 46% discount. Is AKL discounted that much more than the other deluxe hotels?

We are booked at the WL and are saving 45% off rack rates. Rack rate for a woods view was $230 and we are paying $126. I am very happy with the rates and the fact that they released them so much earlier this year.
