AP Discount Question

As I have developed a taste for the deluxe resorts...shocking, I know...I'm thinking about buying an AP. I'd probably be able to use it for two trips and would definitely be able to use it for AP rates for two trips. Are there always AP rates available? And, if so, what are they for deluxes usually?

I've only been an AP holder since February, so I am not sure on if one is always offered. I think there was about a month maybe when I was looking where an AP discount was not listed.

As for AP discounts for deluxe hotels, I know I have seen 30%, 35% or 40% listed for those. Although, I think occasionally certain hotels within the deluxe listings would have dates where the discount was only about 25%. Just like the GP discount offers sometimes there are date restrictions.

Sadly, AP rates are not always offered or available. You can't depend on them and they are usually offered pretty close to actual booking date. I read that AP rates were released late Nov 2010, for usage in January 2011, just as an example.

I am currently waiting for AP rates to be released for January 2012, so I can **fingers crossed** hopefully either upgrade from POFQ to WL or if WL isn't available, get POFQ at a better rate.

My rule of thumb is to book at the highest I know we can afford at rack room rate, and then pray like no tomorrow for a good AP discount.
